Oh come on!
Where is TESIV Oblivion????
This is the reason I have ordered an xbox 360 and judging from comments here (and from people in the offline world, it is THE anticipated title for the platform.
If only Microsoft realised that, we might have it as a launch title.
Spence @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Surely Halo 3 should be there? or is it an exception because not much is known about it? What's the deal..? Is it really far away or something?
Efren @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Halo 3? Halo 3 hasn't even been announced yet, why would be be visiting IGN's Halo 3 page when there is zero information about it available?
cheese @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
a friend of min got madden for 360. I don't see the point personally. It's about as crappy as the psp sports titles that came out(with subsequent 'sequels' that were put out less than 6 months later), devoid of features in the other console titles. EA just wants to cash in on the launch, but then again, that's their deal.
Jimmy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
This list is nowhere as accurate as the one a lil bit back... the only reason many games have moved up over stuff like PDZ is because IGN has reviewed and put media/video reviews up for them... and other games like PDZ they just got and havent reviewed yet
Spence @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Ah okay, fair doos Efren, I'm not up to date on the Xbox news.. I don't really care much for it.. it's my only console at home, but I don't play it.
I think we have PGR2 and golf.. and Baldur's gate.. I only played PG.
The1 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
I really do not agree with this list so to speak. I think PD0 will be the top selling game for the X360, followed by Madden, COD-2 and Kameo.
Jay @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Whats the difference between NBA 06 and NBA Live 06? Dont tell me that they're both the same but one is online. else i'll have to burn all the Xbox 360's entering the UK.
cheese @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
^^^ notice the 2k6 (2k games) and the Live has always been a EA staple for their NBA games.
bulged eyes @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
What's up with Sports games? I've been playing video games for 20 years, I'm 25 now, and I've never felt the urge to play a sports-based video game. I've played a few Street games, they're okay, nothing to run home crying about, but by-the-book sports games, no. It's always weird to me that sports games are almost always the top system sellers on any system. If Halo 3 were coming out, I'm sure there would still be those people who would skip past it on their way to Madden 2006. I just don't get it.
puh_fifer @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Is anyone around from Northeast Pennsylvania? I am looking for other people camping best buy in dickson city and thought we could have a joystiq meetup or some stuff, like forming a circle of protection from hoodlums. Later kids.
Oh, by the way I've talked to the management at the Dickson City BB and they're cool with camping about any time we want.
KrAzYmAn @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Wow NHL is beating King Kong, that is amazing. I will probably get NHL 2K6 when it's like 20$ (about a month after relese)
Luke @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
I'm getting call of duty 2 and ridge racer 6.
ReyBrujo @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Hmm... how many of those games are [going to be] available for PC as well? And I cannot believe people is expecting EA games, just buy the 2005 game and add some 100000 polygons more to the objects ;-)
IGN is visited mainly by USA residents, so it is likely sport games are quite high in the list (children now prefer to play games in consoles than in an open field).
DrmChsr0 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Wow...most of the 15 are sequels of the same fucking games released in the last 3 years....
The people are complete fucking idiots for falling for this crap. Complete fucking idiots, I tell you.
Tyler @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
These launch titles suck. Half of them are availible for the PS2! What does that tell you?
Sean @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
It tells me that most developers do not support a single system anymore but instead want to generate as much revenue, by supporting as many successful platforms as possible.
It should be noted some of the 360 versions of games that also appear on the PS2 are graphically superior on the 360 and support unified online gaming. Madden is but one example.
Paul Atreides @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
The way they build these lists is stupid.
They track clicks on game titles.
Now, if a game is not in a list, how do you click on it?
If a game title is not in a list, does it mean it sucks?
If a game title is in every list on the Web, does it mean it's good?
See...those rankings are crap...just as most of the statistics provided by traffic tracking companies.
Jim Allen @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Sequals, sequals, and movie tie-in's. More of the same generation after generation.
Vince @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
wow wtf wut about gears of war that lookz like a amazing game
some gamer @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
thanks for taking my comment vince, but i agree with you, gears of war (as well as oblivion) looks great where are those games
jago @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
"What's up with Sports games? I've been playing video games for 20 years, I'm 25 now, and I've never felt the urge to play a sports-based video game."
Exactly...a good chunk of the audience that appeals to the Xbox in general think that Madden on the 360 is revolutionary. In actuality, it is just Madden running at a higher resolution, higher resolution models and maybe slightly different controls. Those things don't make the game 100% superior or make buying a $400 system worthwhile.
zander106 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
bulged eyes:
Regarding your comments on sports games, and why people play them. Sports video games fulfill two purposes I can think of:
1) They allow your average joe to pretend that he or she is somehow participating in the sport. There is a really visceral feeling of being able to drive down the field for the winning TD or score the game-winning header off a corner kick. And for the many gamers who are past their physical prime (and the average gamer, a late 20s male, often is), it allows them to relive, electronically, their glory days.
2) Sports games have virtually infinite replay value. As with sports in the real world, every game is different. They can be offensive slugfests or defensive pitching duels, blowouts or nail-biters. But no game is the same as any other.
Madden topping this list doesn't surprise me one bit. It's always the country's biggest selling game every year. I'm excited about its graphical innovations. However from what I've read, it sounds disappointing in that it has no minicamps and that it *still* hasn't incorporated some of the great presentation aspects of NFL 2K5. Am I the only one who loves watching my own halftime highlights???
Cem @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
I expect Perfect Dark Zero to top this list in a couple weeks. From what I have seen and read, it'll be a very solid game, especially the multiplayer part. Can't wait.
the_game_master @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
ya see this is why real gamers are holding out for the real game system, PlayStation 3. hehe jk. But honestly you people are putting to much hope into the Xbox 360 launch. Xbox never appealed to me with having any great games in part because they dont have good 1st party game lineup, like Nintendo or late Sega did. Sony has multiple 1st party brands under different names like 989 etc., and have a legion of 3rd party developers at its wing. Xbox is the modern day Jaguar in my opinion, only unlike Atari the Xbox has billions backing it.
Geof @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM

No one wants to hear your "i love sony" fanboy rants.
jago @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Geof:
No one wants to hear your "I Love Microsoft" fanboy rants either. Just b/c someone is not buying the X360 hype and prefers another system doesn't auotmatically mean they are a biased fanboy. I swear...alot of you guys on here seem to think that if someone doesn't like a game/system that they are blindly bashing it or if b/c a website/magazine gives a review of a game that you don't agree with that it is biased.
Connmann @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
If only people realized what a great game King Kong should shape out to be. The graphics are killer, you get to play as kong, and that one guy, and also there is no hud screen which is awesome. That game is the top of my list and other people should look into it, but people have their own opinions.
MasterGMR16 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
What is really going on here is the japanese have taken over your mind and want you to buy their system.
People who bye the Xbox 360 are supporting their country, not Japan....
Another thing I have got to bring up is how creative Sony is with their names...
Playstation 3?? Isnt there a better name they could think off? Like the Crapstation.
I agree that EA and and their crappy sports games blow. They have been forcing them down our throats constantly and yet gamers past their prime(which is about when they first start gaming) still pick it up.
Anyway I am biased and I am a whole hearted supporter of the Xbox 360. If you dont agree then you should move to japan...
More tomarrow.
Peace out,
MasterGMR16
Scott @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Ive seen some pretty sweet videos of King Kong. Definitly something I would want to rent and "possibly" buy. I do think that the 360 is the real deal and its not Jaguar or the Genesis of this generation. Im not going to predict who will win this generation but the 360 definitly is going to be at an advantage getting out of the gate first and having a lot of developers who are jumping off the PS3 boat for the 360 land. I hope 360 comes out on top but if the PS3 brings the system specs Sony is quoting, Xbox will have to bring the games like the PS2 did to compete.
Let the Games Begin
Embassy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
i swear some of you video game nerds will never understand..the avg. gamer is NOT our demographic..they dont check joystiq every 10 mins and they more than likely didnt order a 360 right after E3 or shit..i doubt they even no wat E3 is...the avg. gamer likes SPORTS games..as they are HUGE sellers...especially MADDEN and LIVE... ESPECIALLY here in the states where footbal is GOD and lebron is KING...the avg gamer has NO IDEA WDF AN ELDER SCROLL is ..nor do thye have any desire to find out..that game is strictly a hardcore gamer type game...so if u dont see ORIONS FANTASY ELDER GATE XIII: ABSALOMS EPIHPANY on the list Do NOT be surpised...
jago @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
What was wrong with the Genesis? I was never a fan of the system but that thing was far from being a failure. In fact some of the greatest games ever mde came out during the SNES vs. Genesis lifecycle.
As for MasterGMR16:
You my friend are an idiot. You and your ignorant 1950's-style prejudice. In fact...you do realize that most (or even all) of the Xbox 360 systems/accessories are made OUTSIDE of the US right? If you like a particular gaming system...buy it. If not? Then don't buy it.
Going by your screen name, you must be 16 b/c you have the maturity of a 16 year old.
CAPTNSKI003 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Wow there is so much hatred here... We're all here reading this stuff because of one simple fact. We love to play video games. Whether it be at your house or your friends. I like both Xbox and Playstation but when it comes down to it, we want to play the latest and greatest. I'll be picking up a 360 on Tuesday and a PS3 next year. Either way, you're gonna be spending some dough. As a gamer, I'm not just gonna sit around and watch as some of the greatest games to ever come out just pass me by because I love my PS2 so much. Call it pride or loyalty or whatever you want to call it, more than half of you won't be able to wait any longer. I just love to play......
Jay @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
"I like both Xbox and Playstation but when it comes down to it, we want to play the latest and greatest"
speak for yourself. I dont want to play latest and greatest. I want to play just the greatest. thats why I still play Super Mario Bros 1+3 and Turrican (amiga).
Your attempt to mediate amuses me.
Jay @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
"People who bye the Xbox 360 are supporting their country, not Japan...."
Who cares about supporting their country? I know the US has a terrible economy right now (looks at value of sterling to dollar) but really. you guys have a lot of making up to do bombing Japan like that ;)
support your country. hah.
Bodah @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Yeah Jay, Japan was so innocent. I'm not just talking about Pearl Harbor neither. Open a book monkey.
And yeah, which country has the highest GNP? What ever. This was a poorly attempted flamebait.
Jago @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
"I know the US has a terrible economy right now"
Umm...really? Since when? I'm not a fan of the the major biased newspapers but have you taken a look at job growth, unemployment numbers, etc. lately? Even those papers are posting highly positive numbers.
Unemployment is LOWER then it ever was during Clinton's 8 years in office.
Sam @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
This list is cornier than the corn palace.
Where are all the titles people dont shut up about - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Gears of War, Quake IV, Perfect Dark Zero, Blue Dragon, etc etc etc? It's more like a "top 15 games made by sellout companies" list.
andrew @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM
Will XBOX360 come out with some good college sport games (football, basketball)? Better than regular xbox and ps2 and all that junk?
MasterGMR16 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:06PM

Sure its all made outside the US.... Our companies go over their and hire some nickel workers pump out the Xbox 360's and sell it over here for $400 a pop. No wonder Bill Gates is so rich! And that is called outsourcing my friends.

As for EA and their crappy sports games....
Actaully forget them, its not their fault, they are just doing the supply and demand thing..
Maybe if all you football/baseball/basketball has beens stopped playing these games and actually put some effort into the sport then maybe you wouldnt need to play one of EA's crappy sports games...
Alright I believe I have busted up suffiently on most of you here. So I'll be back tomarrow.

my freinds u need to realise that the xbox 360 is made by the richest man in the world. His only consern is keeping his life the way it is "on the top of society." He will do anything to keep it that way he will even use outsourcing the most awfel buissness practice used my US companies to make him even richer u should not buy the XBox 360 because if u do u are just giving away your money to a man who has all he will ever need.

Look, this is getting out of hand. I know you all like to play video games (or else you wouldn't be here). But is this arguing getting us anywhere? Take it for what it is, the Xbox 360 looks to be a good console for those who just want to play whatever "Top of the Line" game that comes out. So turn on whatever system it is that you enjoy and just PLAY. I don't see the need for such anger.

Not anger, FUN!! Lets face it if you support PS3 Why the hell are you even here in the first place? Also this thing is like a week old everyone has forgotten about it.
