Dimension will distribute Dead or Alive movie

We'll all just have to hope that they're better translations then Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter! Does anybody have any confirmed cast lists for any of these movies (imdb is all user driven so may not be confirmed)

Thank god, this will surely lift the stigma set on movie adaptations of video games. I mean, fighters have the most entralling plots of all the genres (insert sarcasm).

What is it with the sudden urge these companies feel to dev movies from video games??
They all suck and always will..

The first Mortal Kombat movie while not fantastic, was at least entertaining (same with the first Resident Evil imo). The 2nd MK movie...well I wish I could get that hour and half back.

boobies.......trailing off into thought of porn stars staring in this movie with big hooters, then they get ripped of and start fighting nude. Oh sorry lost myself there for a moment.

You know why these movies never work? You cant start jacking off or swearing in the middle of the theater like you can while playing video games.

Whats confusing me is, How are they going to get aisan girls with such large breasts(a rarety on its own) coupled with experience in martial arts - for Dead or Alive?

I think halo will be the first game to file that will not suck im mean MS and bungie wont let it plus peter jackson hell yeah

Mortal Kombat 1 was good I think, so soppy side stories etc, they stuck to the game plot.

Mortal Kombat 2 went a bit too Hollywood for my liking (everything exploded!)

At least it's made in China, which gives Hollywood the middle finger when it comes to good fight scenes.

Worst choice of actors EVER! Especially for the female characters since none of the actresses are right for the role. They don't look the part, they ain't busty, and biggest insult of all, most have wrong ethnic backgrounds that contradicts the characters they are playing! Devon Aoki part Japanese does not count, and she isn't even good looking!! Thank you for ruining Kasumi Mr. Yuen!

I'm actually looking forward to the actor playing Hayabusa though since at least he IS Japanese, and since he's the son of the infamous 1980's Ninja, least that is something to keep me interested in.

Yea I saw that too. I'm not flaming or anything but I thought it was kinda funny that when the segment was starting the first thing displayed on the TV was "Failed."

Plus one of the anchors seemed kinda annoyed that he would have to shell out extra money if he wanted to play the original Xbox games on it...lol...

Well Sho Kosugi was in some of the cheesy American made Ninja flicks of the 80's! It was once said that he could have been the next breakout Oriental action star after the likes of Bruce Lee. Uh....well, looks like that didnt't happen, but he has become a cult favourite of some sort! And as cheesy as the Ninja films were, he was definately the star of them LOL...!

But yeah, after watching the trailer, I just like to add, since it truely is like a Charlies Angels rehash, doesn't exactly look like the Hayabusa character would have a big role in the film! And he was a frggening main character in the DOA games!! Then again, the Ninja characters were!!

Way to go for Hollywood to crap this game franchise up, and as if they didn't already do enough damage for many others! I just wished that Japanese game developers would not give film directors, particulary those who make films for Hollywood, the permission for a license to the rights of their game's name! Why did Tecmo agree to this I don't know! Same goes in the past for Capcom (Resident Evil) and Sega (House of the Dead).!

So much for Uwe Boll being the arch-nemesis of all things videogame-based...the Asians can clearly do a perfectly swell job or ruining game-to-movie projects on their own...

You know, if Dead or Alive was a "Anime only" movie, it would be soooo much better!

And yes, choice of female casting is just ridiculous. The girl playing Ayane, OMFG!!! And it seems they left out the Lei-Fang character! Oh well, good!!! Don't want more to be ruined!

That's true...b/c the Street Fighter V animated series was actually pretty decent. I've never seen the Tekken animated movie though. Was that any good?

Is it me or do the girls look like they are wearing cosplay clothes? If you don't beleive me, check out Kasumi's and Ayane's hair.

I think the decision to make a live action movie of this game franchise was ill-informed. They cannot please the fans of the series, because it would be impossible to distill a 90 minute narrative from the series. Also, I'm curious as to whom most of you posters would cast. I for my part also find it pretty unlikely that they could find actresses built like the characters in the game.
But like so many have pointed out, it's like Full Throttle. I suppose that if that movie did well, this one might too.
Sigh.

Yeah it does look like cosplay! I do have to admit, even though the the casting for Ayane is bad, I find her the most attractive of the lot. Maybe it's because of the "cosplay-looking" purple hair lol!

I kinda figured that the Tekken animated movie was crap...the same will probably happen to the live action one as well.

Well if the film was Japanese made, at least many female Japanese idols (i.e. Popstars) can be suited to the role of the characters, even those without martial arts experience! Though when it comes to the foriegn characters, that could be a slight problem.

Have you ever heard of a film called Azumi? Ueto Aya, who is quite a famous idol herself plays the Azumi character and I honestly though she did a brilliant job. And the costume and even the character itself brings that slight familiarity of Kasumi from DOA as well!

Nudity, or at least topless shots, will be a major selling point for this film. That is of course assuming that all women cast in this film have breasts and bodies similar to those in the game. Otherwise this movie will fail like Democrats.
