The latest issue of PSW (a UK PlayStation magazine)
reveals a number of details about the upcoming multi-platform title, Splinter Cell 4. The game is set in 2008,
one year after the events of Chaos Theory. As predicted, you assume the role of Sam Fisher, now serving a
20-year bid, which may be connected to the death of Sam's daughter. Of course, you'll soon break on out with the help
of Jamie Washington (of John Brown's Army).
Once on the outside, you'll make your way back to Washington and enlist the help of John Brown's Army members, including Emile Dufraisne (the boss), Carl Moss (the deputy) and Enrica Villablanca (chemical expert). Splinter Cell 4 promises to introduce a new gameplay feature—currently under wraps—which creative director Daniel Berube has described as, "an obvious but as yet unexploited aspect [of the genre]." In addition, Berube thinks that the Splinter Cell 4 environments are shaping up to be more realistic than those seen in the infamous Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer. 'Dems fightin' wurdz!
[Editor's note: We have our doubts about a multi-platform title that spans current-gen consoles going up against a PS3-exclusive like MGS4]
