According to a recent report published by Xinhua, China's new
game fatigue system (regulation of time spent playing MMOGs) is not effective. Players can bypass regulation
attempts by switching between game accounts, using private servers, or simply playing more than one game. Interestingly
enough, Xinhua is government-controlled, which means that the Chinese government is eager to bring this issue to the
public's attention—perhaps it's an effort to encourage concerned parents and loved ones to take grassroots regulatory
measures. Whatever the intention, a more comprehensive regulation system can't be far off.
