Turns out that a shortage was most definitely in-effect. HD
Beat's Kevin Tofel had one Hell-of-a-time trying to get his paws on a Premium Xbox 360. From 3:00–10:30am
Kevin hit 14 retail outlets, including 3 Walmarts, two trips to Toys'R'Us, and a desperate stop at RadioShack. Oh
well, maybe next year…

Mine arrived at 9:15 this morning from FedEx. I got an order in on the Circuit City website on Friday.
Had a good nights sleep, warm and dry in my bed. Woke up to a nice Xbox 360 premium system, extra controller, remote, play and charge kit, PGR3, NFS:MW and Kameo.
Life is good.

I didn't preorder anything. In fact this whole preordering phenomenon is whack! It doesn't guarantee you anything. Anyway... I didn't preorder the system. I woke up this morning and drove to Costco here in Albuquerque, NM at 645 this am. I was 11th in line. Xeqtioner met up with me 2 minutes later and was 13th in line. Costco's management team decided to open up 2 hours early for the gamers and let us buy our systems! They handed out 25 vouchers and escorted us inside where we paid $479 for the premium bundle + an extra wireless controller + a play and charge kit + Kameo! That is one hooked up price. And their games are 7 dollars cheaper than retail! Right on Costco! You all came through for us today.

i have an xbox and gamecube, and they're both great. i'm sure most of you posting have an xbox, probably other systems as well. The 360 is going to be around for years to come, so what if you don't get it before xmas. is it going to be the end of the world? NO. And since most of you are bitching about microsoft anyway, why the hell would you want to support them.
So this is my proposal:
No one buy a 360. There i said it. Oh sure, i'll buy one sometime next summer, but until then, fuck microsoft. By believing all their hype, you're all supporting the "corporate machine" which it would seem you're all against.
So do something about it, make yourselves heard, tell your friends, and make this the worst xmas for microsoft. ever.

Whelp... Best Buy screwed us over. Told us twice to our faces that they would not allow people to line up before the store closed. I guess one guy was there at 10 am and then they came more and more starting around 4 pm or so. So we complained to the manager, and then headed to Target. After waiting 12.5 hours in the cold, rain, and snow... we prevailed with 2 Xbox 360s. A Premium and a Core. My Premium is on eBay and then I'm going to use the money to buy myself one when it's back in the store.

I'm not against the 'corporate machine' because I got mine (Awesome Job Costco!). Now for Revo and then maybe PS3 if it's not too expensive...

nothing more than marketing. There will be PLENTY of 360's on the shelves come Christmas. There won't be enough for demand, simply because it's the biggest "toy" on the market this year. But there will be plenty and microsoft will come close to hitting that 3mil mark by year end that some of you may have heard about.
When IBM and various other component manufacturers say they've shipped a few million of their parts to Microsoft already, where do you really think the shortage is? Cardboard boxes? Not enough people putting them together? no, there is no real shortage. It's just excellent marketing and it's working to perfection.

i got one...and unfortunately enough..... i wa only able to get the Core system. That was all they had left.
Anyways, since i didn't want to go home, and play games without being able to save, and i wasn't willing to buy a memory card, the xbox sits on my shelf right now. The box is sealed... Still looking so pretty.... I haven't even opened the hole for the serial number yet.
Anyways, I've decided to sell mine, and wait until Halo 3 to get one. I realize that'll be a while, but hey, i've got school to pay for, and so i need the money.
Anyone interested in buying it can email me an offer to therapeutic.chain@gmail.com

What I don't understand is a bunch of us keep getting the run around. After waiting 6 hours at Sears they now told us none in the area are getting any at all (central connecticut)! A certain Radio Shack in West Hartford said they had 30 and sold them all out but yet we called other radioshacks and confirmed they never carried them to begin with. A walmart employee first said they only had 4 but yet with more calls we start hearing different numbers! BJ's said they were not carrying them but after calling them an hour later they had said the sold out???The games keep going on and on! What the hell is going on here???

I went out and pre-ordered my PSP, in march on launch day i took a longer lunch to go pick it up! took it back to work and played with it! to this day nothing has gone wrong with my PSP no dead pixels or stuck buttons... When the PS3 comes out i will do the same thing. how is this related to the XBOX 360... I ordered a White PSP that is on its way to my house. My advice to all of you that havent bought a 360 yet... just wait for the "bugs" to be worked out. buy a PSP instead!

I wanted to suprise my 9 year old nephew with a 360 for Christmas (and one for me) However I knew it would be bad due to the fact that there were a group of psychos camped out in the parking lot of Best Buy at 5:00 PM, (yes PM) the day before. "No problem" I thought "i'll just wait till next shipment". Bad Idea I never reserved a copy and the earliest out of all stores in New Haven County is after Christmas (most in March for Christ's sake!) This is total Bull Shit! Any suggestion??

Hey everybody I was just in a store off of Canal Street N.Y. they had 360’s just at $900.00 no games, just the system… Is that legal?

I had a pre-ordered xbox 360 and didn't get one so I was pretty disoppionted. But, i think I know why there was a shortage of systems, they were going far a global release so microsoft could only spare a few 360's for the USA.......BUMMER
Posted: Dec 18th 2005 10:01PM (Unverified) said
Jambal... unfortunately enough, it is legal.... The MSRP is just that... SUGGESTED retail price. The store in my town was 499 for the first premium one you bought, and if you wanted another one i believe it was $1199 for every other one you bought...

I reserved my xbox in September. I happened to be in the Gamestop, were I do all my video game shopping .(One week before actual release date)when I overhear a sales clerk(slack jawed, pimple faced dope dealin..I mean video game pusher say, "Yeah we're only getting 50 in the first shipment to a customer. So I inquire, "First shipment? He says, yeah there are two shipment lists. Really, I reply that's the first I heard of it. What list am I on? He informs me that I am on the second list fifth from the bottom. WHAT the FUCK, first time I heard this news. He goes on, to engender my confidence, "But I know you are a regular so I"ll talk to my boss and see what we can do for you.
FASTFORWARD 22 NOV 05 time: 12:00
I'm at the store front, doors are locked, Police are stationed outside(It's Chicago, 2000 N. Block of Harlem Ave) I'm a cop, so they let me in. Manager says, "No he never talked to me, but since your a cop I can do something special for you. He says I have two core systems $299(I pre-ordered Standard with bells and whistles paid $399 mind you) I"ll sell you that one so atleast you'll have the system. "Oh yeah baby, I'm Going home with a Xbox 360!!" I think to myself as I step into line. Then I get to thinking, wait, I'm about to by this system minus the, wireless controller $49, the remote $29, the head set $19.99, the HDTV cables $14.99 and Hard Drive 99.99, only to return at a later date to by the hard drive by itself for $99.99 ( Hopefully you paid attention to the math and get the jist of my point) I arrive at the front of the line and say I'll hold off(this after the Manager my "FRIEND" had already announced " we sold the second core system) he throws a coniption fit, tells me I need to seriouly think about my options and makes one last extremely aggressive and rude effort to hustle me into buying the core system. I shoot him the Silent Police glare( If you've been pulled over and done something stupid you'll remember it), he scurries off to hide himself in a corner with busy work.
Moral of the story is IMPULSIVITY WILL MAKE YOU PAY. Wait, get your XBOX 360 with all the niceties and features you want and a reasonable MSRP.
Observations of the writer: Drug dealers(Game Merchants) use the same types of ploys to get drug users (End Users) to by their product. The users are captive clientel and no matter how the the dealers treat the users the users always comeback. If you don't like it buck the system... If you don't mind keep buyin that smack!!
I will pick up my XBOX 360 wehn it becomes acailable, and never Shop at Gamestop again, and will tell all my Gaming, Police Friends to atleast consider doing the same.

Didn't get one reserved and didnt want to stand in line. I got probably the best deal possible on EBay for 650 with shipping. I figure i can make a profit if it isnt that great... However, with all the preorders still to be filled i dont see people without preorders getting one before christmas.

UH OH MICROSOFT
It would seem that someone has dropped the ball. So I'm in BestBuy lementing my failure to secure a XBOX 360 (Although Still reserved at GAMESTOP). I'm playing the demo of Call Of Duty 2(Yeah I know it's pathetic but hey it's all I got right now), I throw a smoke grenade to flank the german embeded gun, I round the corner and engage the german soldiers....clack,clack...grenade, and then a blank screen and the 360 reboots. Now this is before I heard about the wide spread report of XBOX 360 crashes. The crashes made the news at 6:00 p.m and I come online and see various blogs about 360 crashes. Maybe I'm not so upset about not getting a 360 on launch day and Microsoft is up to their usual antics, It's just a few isolated incidents." Shame,Shame, Shame Microsoft. Will it affect sales, we shall see.

Cheers! I'm kicking myself for not pre-ordering back in september. I tried to locate a 360 on the 21st, went to Walmart 10:30 pm thinking there would be a chance to pick up "reserve" ticket. The Saturday before launch I ended up at Walmart around 3am looking to spend some money on junk manufactured in China, and asked the electronics manager if I could reserve a 360. She told me to show up before 11:00 on the 21st. They will be handing out reserve tickets for those waiting. Stupid me thought it was 11 pm. As it turns out they started handing them out at 11 am!!! Only had 14 premiumns and 5 core systems. Maybe the manager did say 11 am, but of coarse I had been drinking and possibly drunk when i spoke with her. (I can't remember.) Anywho, I'm one of those yahoos that bought their 360 on ebay. almost $800 for premium. Now I'm thinking I could have/should have waited, and saved 400 bucks. That was a poor investment choice. Oh well... just like they say "an ass for every seat and a seat for every ass." I my friends am the "ass". Cheers.

i think they purposely shipped little amounts of the xbox 360 on launch day so it would surely sell out like in every freaking store (im actually not as disappointed that i didnt get one as i tought i would be but id still like one before christmas/winter break)they did this so when it does sell out everywhere , it would be the hot item for the holidays now on the 2nd shipment on the 16th of dec. or a lil after in some places right before the holidays, their gonna largely increase the amount they ship so everyone can get the "hot item" for christmas...because selling them after christmas is foolish. bill and MS aint dumb. oh well all this is wht i think and its also cheering me up a bit and giving me hope..yep im a lil desperate . launch day i went to best buy, saw the linee , and heck i decided not to wait which might have been a mistake

If you are one of those impatient or foolish ppl to actually preorder a 360 back in May or was in your mind lucky enough to land one while waiting an umpteen amount of hours at a store, then listen up .. chances are you landed A LEMON .. i was one of those idiots like you who was "un"lucky enough to get the first Xbox the day of launch. Boy was that a mistake. Microsoft's first shipment of Xbox included faulty DVDROMS, hard drives and power supplies, BOTH of which I had to replace in my Xbox. So for all you whiners out there that are disgruntled about not getting one on release day, could you please do us all a favor and shut up. You will be counting your blessings come right before Christmas time when Microsoft irons out the major wrinkles of it's new system with shipment #2 before anyone notices and you will be happier in the long run while SOME ppl who got 360 the day it came out will be crying. For you ill-informed so called loyal gamers out there, Microsoft is pulling a Sony PS2 marketing strategy out the yeyo for the moment, so please please stop crying. Most of you that did not get one already will have one before Christmas time as Microsoft would miss out on tremendous revenue if they did not. Patience , patience my fellow gamers.
