Even harder to find than the elusive gamer girl is the Magic the Gathering girl of which we ?geeks dream.

My wife (then girlfriend) bought me a PS2 for my bday a few years ago, then got annoyed after I was playing it for 2 hours. I told her I was just getting started... Since then she continues to fork out our cash for our game dev biz so I cant complain (3 years and no income yet... but some killer stuff on the way). Big tip. Start a game dev biz and you can justify gaming as "work".

We've kinda come to an agreement that I can play in one room and she can watch her soaps in another, and we dont give each other trouble. The think that really bites though is that she does play cell phone snake, tetris etc. But like really only monocrome versions. It makes me so mad when we've got about a dozen better systems at arms reach.

I'm a girl and I can't get enough of games. I guess that makes me the elusive girl gamer.

Only one problem though. This chick likes girls too.

Sorry boys!

Hey, to the girls who are complaining about their boyfriend being a gamer.
I say when you give up your purses, we'll give up our games. That simple. ;)
Ohhhh! It just got serious now, didn't it?

You either need to join us or at least try to give us a break sometimes.

And yes, I gots a girl that is not much into games...I'm surprised that she has not left me yet, but I'm a nice guy to her. when she wants to do something, we do it. But when it's game time, she's by me - bringing the beer - the energy. :D

wha? my "slave" you say? nooo...I think its the opposite. I'm the one doing our laundry - that takes a lot from gaming time...:D

Um, according to recent numbers gathered from game companies, averaging and collating the polls that they all take, 41% of gamers in the US at least are female... how does that make us elusive? Sure, you guys still outnumber us, but we're not exactly rare.

Things like this "GAG" (and yes, from the acronym, I suspect it's either a joke, or the kind of girls I wanted to shake until they had some sense in high school) do nothing but reinforce the stereotypes that girl-gamers are hard to find, and if you find one, she won't be any good

Sorry fellas, but I've yet to meet the guy who I can't beat at least as often as he beats me at any game I've ever touched

Geeze, another lesbo gamer!!

** slaps jaw **

Why am I NOT surprised!! Go back to your 24/7 webcam you slut, with the rest of your lesbo mates.

Besides we all know that real girls DO NOT exist on the internet. Those "female" toons, are just horney guys wackng off to the virtual chicks on the screen.

Lots of girls can get into games. You just need to find a gateway drug. For my fiance, it was Animal Crossing, then Wind Waker. Before I knew it, she'd beaten Prince of Persia before me, and got to 60 in WoW before me.

It's not unusual for us to go out to dinner, then come back home for a few hours in Azeroth before bedtime.

She still doesn't play FPS's, but she's usually happy to do a raid in WoW with her guild while I frag away on Xbox Live.

My girlfriend spends 2-3 hours a day in these dumb women support groups.

Then she spends another 4-5 hours shopping.

Gives me planty of time to game.

I'm a female gamer. I play a lot of games with my boyfriend, and I play a lot of games without him. My sister loves video games, too. Just yesterday she called to ask if I felt like playing some WoW. . .

Personally I don't think that the girl in this story was concerned that her boyfriend wasn't able to support her with his meager earnings - she was probably fed up with supporting HIM because all his money was being spent on gaming.

I guess I'm one of those elusive girl gamers too. My boyfriend just came up to visit me this weekend (we're at seperate universities) and we definately spent LOTS of hours playing Diablo II, Warcraft III, Halo 2 and Star Wars Battlefront II. I used to play a lot of Zelda in my spare time, and I was always into war strategy games like Age of Empires, etc.

I mean, he pretty much destroys me at fps games but we have a ridiculous amount of fun. And it means I can also hang out with him and his friends without being the bitchy "tagalong" girlfriend, cause I just get in on the gaming action. We play a lot of Risk/Axis&Allies and the like too.

Anyways yeah, so we definately exist. I never got why girls would go out with guys really into gaming and then bitch about it. Similar interests are the best part of any relationship.

You guys are lost... Blake in #58 is REALLY lost! And #11 has hit it right on the nose...girls don't talk to gamers... Deduced from these posts, it seems most of "gaming society" would rather play games than have sex...or just a meaningful place in society for that matter. I understand that today's youth is bombarded by more stimulae than ever before in history – you game online, work on your laptop, listen to your ipod and text your friends on your sidekick all at the same time. Seems that this leaves little time to foster a real relationship where two people actually talk to each other – no one communicates, they just 'virtually communicate' and thus why our kids are killing their parents and their girlfriends' parents. Its all one big game where nothing in their lives is real – with the line separating virtual and reality totally blurred. I know you'll be running the country someday...and my yet-to-be born kids are scared... now all of you go out in your backyard and play some football – if you know how.

Lisa - hmmm I think I would leave my wife for you - are you single.. Can you post some more pictures...please - Kidding

As for GAVG - get a life - My wife spends more time shopping dinning with the girls than I will ever spend playing video games. I work hard and should be able to relax in the manner we choose. She often complains but life is all about balance. No question you can always take things to the extreme and distort them for a good story..

My GF doesn't play games but spends a lot of time on the net, so I got 2 computers one for her and one for me now she gets upgraded when I upgrade. It keeps her happy since she no longer has to fight for PC time and I can continue to play games and also be with her since I spend 15hrs a day in our office

LOL @ this lunacy. I, too, am a girl gamer and my boyfriend and I quite often run together whilst playing team slayer. Yes, we have 2 Xbox's in our apartment, I play in the bedroom, he in the living room. At times *gasp* we play for hours on end. Oftentimes, I'll play without him and frequently I outrank him. (The HORROR!) If the most important thing those girls have to worry about in college is the amount of time their boyfriends spend gaming, they live enchanted lives.

Someone needs to start the "Girlfriends that Play Video Games" group.

All I have to say is you all need to quit bitching. Buy him a membership to rent games at your video store for Christmas. He'll love you for it. THEN ask him to get two player games every once in a while and play along with him. You'll find yourself loving it as much as he does and it's time you can spend together instead of being ignored.
