Webcomic Roundup: November 20 - 26, 2005
Congratulations to Penny Arcade's Tycho, for he is now a proud father to Elliot Jacob Holkins - born on the very day that Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 console - which is almost proof that there is a higher power in this world, and that he has a great sense of humor.
We are going to try to make the webcomic roundup more interactive by transforming it into a weekend poll. If it does not work, then we will revert back to the old format, but it never hurts to try something new, right? So, without further ado, here are the best game-related webcomics for the week - vote for your favorite!
Technical mumbo jumbo: this is not a scientific or rigorous poll and is only intended to capture the general consensus of Joystiq readers. Results will be posted approximately one week after the poll is opened for votes. Sure, you probably could hack this poll if you worked at it, but its more fun for everyone if poll results accurately reflect the opinions of all readers, so please refrain from tampering with poll results.

Penny Arcade spanking the competition!

What about Ctrl Alt Del? Emma finally revealing her plan to kill Lucas has to be worth something..

I wanted to keep the poll choices as slim as possible - and yeah, emma with the gun, thinking lucas had a fortune, that is pretty funny, but it was the last one I cut - between that one and penny arcade (i.e. the comics that need no exposure), but i left penny arcade because I wanted to talk about Tycho's new baby in the introduction. I'll probably make a big deal of the CAD story next week when it gets closer to its finale.

Pardon my ignorance, but what does killing lucas have to do with games? Shouldn't all entries be about video games, and not just from a comic strip that tends to talk about games?
ALX @ Dec 18th 2005 10:09PM
Ya I would have liked to have seen CAD, but if Ross is gonna do a whole post on it then im happy :). and vc don't be such a nerd: I therefore direct you to the CAD comic that deals with your comment: http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=2003-05-09

It's a fine line for me because, as a Ctrl+Alt+Del fanatic, I really do like to give it credit, even when it does not need credit (i.e. it is supser popular or it is talking about non-game related material). CAD-Comic is at heart a video game comic but has diverted from that some much the same was PvP and Penny Arcade have. I will probably make reference to the Lucas storyline next time, but after much thought I probably will not add the comic of that to the poll (unless, of course, Emma is thwarted by a self-sacrificing Xbot...).
I have been guilty of having double standards for these contests, by adding non-game-related comics to the list simply because the site is notorious with game comics. VC is right, I'm afraid, and the webcomic roundup will be moving more into just game comics.

I absolutely Love Robot Tea Party, I've been watching it since the beginning. All of them are great and I'm a huge fan of both CAD and Penny Arcade, but Robot Tea Party really needs the exposure and is so unique and clever. So overall I'm thrilled that it even showed up on the poll and I think everyone should look into it.

As the maker of robot tea party, all I really had to say when I saw it mentioned on a site as big as Joystiq was, "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA?"
