Should more xbox shipments be coming? I know some people said some would arrive over the past weekend but no retailers received any and now many retailers are saying theyre not sure if theyre even going to get any this week. Are they just clueless? or is it true that there wont be weekly shipments?

This from Major Nelson:

"I double checked with the retail team, and while I can’t speak to each retail outlets specific distribution strategy, I can tell you that we (Xbox) have a weekly replenishment strategy."

"...weekly replacement strategy."

From the retail outfits I've talked to, timing and quantity of new shipments will depend on how many accessories are sold.

Anyone in the business know if this is an unusual distribution plan?

I was thinking of just buying every accessory at the local target until they got more hardware, and then returning the stuff, but I'd probably forget to take it back and end up with 30 extra controllers.

With all this talk of system shortages, there's another type of shortage nobody's talking about right now: new games for it! After Dead of Alive 4 comes out, I don't know of any title due ot before late January/early February at the earliest.

I can understand publishers though. Why bother releasing games if you missed the launch window/holiday season and there's not enough units to support them. Might as well give the development teams (and marketing) more time and do a Q1 '06 release.

Might be worth some digging for comitted release dates as a story idea for the site.

I'm seriously considering putting the system I'm getting next week up for sale on eBay. It's a free premium box so any money I make is pure profit. At the going rate of $650 or so I can but one after the holiday rush with all the fixings.
