Eve Online Magazine is the official print magazine of massively multiplayer
sci-fi game Eve Online. The magazine's publishers (also the game's developers) are taking payment for magazine
advertisements in the virtual currency (ISK) used in the game Eve Online.
What's more, the publisher plans to pay the writers of the magazine in the same virtual currency. Writers will be paid the equivalent of $10 to $20 USD per page. That's not great money by mainstream magazine standards, but it's certainly more than most fans get paid to write about their MMOG addictions.
Now if only the magazine's publishers could figure out how to get their printers and the postal service to accept the virtual currency, they wouldn't need to spend a dime of real cash to get the magazine out the door and into customer mailboxes.
