Gamecloud has a great interview up with Steve Purcell, the writer-artist of Sam & Max. They ask all the juicy questions like: what was the Infinite Machine game going to be about? How did you feel after the second cancellation, this time from LucasArts? Are there any plans to reprint the Sam & Max comics?
Most interesting is how Purcell compares working on movies (with his current employer, Pixar) with video games (like the original Sam & Max Hit the Road) and television (he made a short-lived Sam & Max cartoon on Fox) with episodic videogames (like the new Sam & Max). He says:
...smaller format games [are] like TV in a way because you get a chance to re-examine the direction you're taking and respond to input from the fans… I like self-contained stories but with an undercurrent of something bigger that could link the chapters together.
As for whether or not Pixar is interested in a computer-animated Sam & Max movie, Purcell responded, "Pixar is doing fine without Sam & Max."
That's not a no!
