You have probably never heard of it, but Electronic Games magazine was one of the first magazine devoted to
video games. The magazine was founded in 1981 by Bill Kunkel, Joyce Worley, and Arnie Katz (only Computer and Video
Games magazine preceded them by a mere two weeks) and laid the ground for later publications like
GamePro, Electronic Gaming Monthly, and even websites like
GameSpot and Joystiq.
This month marks the publication of Bill Kunkel's memoir, Confessions of the Game Doctor (you can view some
sample pages
here). Bill
Kunkel has worked in and out of the industry for years, and has an interesting perspective on the industry. To hear
what Mr. Kunkel has to say about the book (including an overview of some of the more bizarre chapters), check out the
Kunkel Report here. The book is so far only making
a limited printing of 1000 copies, which you can
order from the Rolenta Press website.
