We've heard about shortages in Europe, about retailers being sold out, so some of our European readers have written in with their 360 stories. Tom writes in from Austria,
It might come as a surprise to you guys in the US but in small Austria... getting an Xbox 360 is still no problem. Microsoft prepared the launch (tomorrow 2359 pm) with a great public event at a museum in Vienna. For the last week everyone could go there and check out all the launch games on 100 kiosks. It is free and starts at 1400 in the afternoon. Every night there is a concert in the evening. The shop on the premise still sold Xbox 360s today. Buyers received a voucher to pick up the console tomorrow at 2359 AND an invitation for the exclusive launch event tomorrow. I have been there three times during the last week and there have not been many people at all. I guess it was just very badly promoted. At electronic retailers, the Xbox 360 is considered to be out though.Jonas from Sweden wrote in saying, "the Swedish store Elgiganten (kinda like a Wal-Mart but only with electronics, kitchen gear, etc.) offers the Xbox 360 (both the "core" and the normal package) at 500 kronor below the recommended price (2495 kronor and 3495 kronor). To Americans, that would equal about a $50 cut to $249 and $349."
These are sure to be the exceptions; most of the continent will certainly be sold-out.
