Get RSS on your PSP with new firmware

PSP Update 2.6Good or bad news for PSP owners, depending where your priorities lie. Sony have released the latest firmware update for the PSP, version 2.60—although this latest release comes without much fanfare, it does include several useful features such as RSS support, Chinese language encodings in the Web browser, and WMA playback. Video with copyright protection can also now be downloaded.

While none of these features are particularly outstanding, this latest update adds another set of obstacles to those trying to get homebrew software working on the PSP. Currently successful attempts have been made with version 1.5 and 2.00 (which is downgradable), and the frequent firmware updates mean that hackers have to keep running to catch up.
