Eurogamer managed to get the very busy Sid Meier to sit down for an interview in London before heading back to homebase in Maryland. In a rather lengthy interview, he revealed several things:
-
With the recent "merger" with Take-Two, they are keeping their eye on the console market.
-
Meier "agrees" the DS with its touch-screen would be a good match for a turn-based game.
-
He thinks the Civilization formula is "rich enough… to sustain any number of games."
-
He was mum on expansion plans, but said it was "safe to assume" that one is being worked on.
-
Despite the Take-Two deal, the 52 year-old game designer has no plans on retiring early saying, "I can't imagine a better job than designing computer games."
Civilization 4 debuted to great reviews, but unfortunately has been plagued by buggy software. Hopefully when he's done touring Europe and attending book readings, they can squash some of those pesky bugs, and we can get back to running the world.
[Thanks, BB]
