Byte Hell 2000 drops Mario & Luigi knockoffs

Byte Hell 2000 (225)

A couple of months back we posted an image from an upcoming Sony PSP title (Japan only) that was, for lack of a better phrase, a blatant rip-off of Nintendo's WarioWare, Inc. games. While understandable, the developers of Byte Hell 2000 took it one step further by adding demented caricatures of Nintendo icons Mario and Luigi.

A new trailer was released recently, and it seems that those caricatures have been removed from the game. The minigame featuring the plumbers now has two generic, demented characters in their place. Was this to protect the legality of the game, or were the developers simply trying to add some taste to the title?
