Even the most die-hard Nintendophile has, at some point, come to
terms with Nintendo's position in the console war. Looking at the sales of the GameCube, the ever-present "kiddie"
image, and their once-hesitant opinion of online game, third place is a phrase that has been thrown around for quite
some time.
However, some people still see the big N as king of the hill - the top dog that has yet to be overthrown. Jonathan
Coley of Nintendo Insider is one of these people. In his words, "Nintendo actually won the hardware race in 2004."
Coley's manifesto - a "call to arms," as he puts it - throws some convincing statistics at the reader to shed light on
how winning a console war is more a matter of perspective.
The article, althought somewhat dated (from April of this year - read part 2
here), is an interesting read for all gamers, if
only to see someone do the unthinkable: stand up and tell the world that Nintendo is still the dominant voice in the
industry. You say you want a Revolution?
