The addition of an RSS feed reader and WMA support in the latest firmware upgrade are good reasons to make the move, but should the thought of leaving all your homebrew goodies behind make you question the trip? Graduate student Kevin Lim breaks down the pluses and minuses of upgrading as part of an analysis he's put together, which includes, among others, a look at the plausibility of having an RSS feed reader on your PSP, and a comment on why the upgrades serve to "entice users to relinquish control of their portable device over to the media giant".He's also come up with a simple at-a-glance chart listing the differences between the firmware versions, although the short of it essentially says that 1.5 users get all their homebrews but none of the audio and video playback improvements, while 2.6 users get all the Sony-issued perks but none of the original stuff.
