Best Buy to offer more 360s Dec. 16-18?

That image up top basically says it all, but if this scan of a corporate print-out is to be believed, expect more 360s
to arrive at Best Buy stores for the Dec. 16-18 weekend, with no fewer than 20 Pro systems going on sale Sunday the
18th.
Whether that means any systems besides the 20 on reserve will be sold before the start of the new ad week is a
question best suited for the product allocation people, however.
This means of distribution doesn't exactly fit in with all the officials reports of a
weekly-replenishment strategy we've been hearing, but it
does fit in well with a strategy to lure all the last-minute Xbox shoppers in the week before Christmas. Good strategy
for an official launch partner when systems will be scarce due to the imminent launches of the 360 in Europe and Japan.
Can you say, "Ka-ching"? In other news, hopeful early adopters wait some more.

I've been told the same thing. I think even if each Best Buy stores are getting weekly replenishment, they are holding them back to have the 20 systems available at each store for the Dec. 18 ad. They have them, but they aren't selling them to makes sure that they have enough when the time comes.

I don't think Best Buy is hiding 360s in the back somewhere until the main shipment arrives on the 16th. Holding a specified number at that point would be standard procedure for an advertised special, so shujin is more than likely telling the truth here.

I also Work at Best Buy.#10 No sold orders means if we have something that is normally in stock (aka. not the 360's) We can Let people pay in advance and it will show up on the next truck with there name reserving it for them. As you probaly already know Best buy Is not doing preorders so it is against company policy to do a sold order on them. And I assure you if we had 360's in or store right now I would Have one.

I heard about this a few days ago, heres the fun part at least for our store, maybe others. We did warehouse orders for 360s the day they were released 20 to be exact, meaning 20 people are waiting for their 360 and if they get their orders, there will be none/few for the ad piece. Or, 20 people are going to be uber mad because random store campers will get "there" 360. All I can say is I'm glad I'm not in that department, cause someone is going to be pissed. One last thing don't be mad at the store, we were told to do the 20 Orcas "warehouse orders" by corporate. I love big business *Sarcasm*

Someone I know works at Toys R Us and he/she has told me that they will be receiving a new shipment of Xbox 360's on the 7th of December but they will not put them up for sale until the 15th.

Dammit. Why do you leak this stuff? Are you TRYING to cause riots and make my job harder? The idea is that people are supposed to call, and if we have them they can come in and get them. Now we're going to have a line-up outside and we'll have to go through launch day all over again.
This is confidential corporate information. I hope whoever leaked it gets canned. This is the kind of thing that causes problems for the company and for the people waiting to get their hands on the product.
I don't know if this is real (bosses are not confirming or denying it at this point) but it doesn't matter. I'm now going to have a line of hardcore gamers outside my store on the 16th, 17th, and 18th, whether or not we actually get a shipment. If this is not true, then I'll have to go through 1000 conversations explaining it, and if it is true then it means the less hard-core people (parents who want it for Xmas) won't have a shot at the 360 because profiteers will snatch them all to put them on eBay.

#9, I too work at Best Buy, and as of right now everyone in our district is sold out. I've been telling my friends as well as customers I will know exactly how many we have in stock before the 16th once we get our Orders Requested on RSS then again once they really arrive on the 16th.

If it looks like there will be campers, then I hope BB will do a lottery drawing at some specified time after store opening. This will STOP camping and give everyone an equal chance to buy a console.

as far as i know at my BB store XTrek, they are doing a first come first serve. no lottery, no tickets, they say they are holding 20, but once the doors open for business, it's gonna be a mad dash to get an xbox lol. i'll know more as the 16th rolls around though and we actually get them in the sore.

#18, its bullshit that people shouldn't be able to know when you are getting in xboxes. SO WHAT if you have a line of people and it makes your job a little wee bit harder, boo hoo, sorry for you. if those parents want to get them for their kids, they'll just have to wait in line, otherwise tough shit for them. also a lottery is BULLSHIT. it SHOULD be first come first serve. a friend of mine was waiting in line at a local BIGGS for 7 hrs, front of the line, and when they finally opened to sell the 360s they said they had changed their minds and decided to do a lottery instead, there were literally 200 people there. There were 10 360s. So my friend didn't get one. Is this fair? HELL NO, f the lotter and F you #18, you are [censored].

I read this whole document besides the fact of the shippment of the 360's there is something that struck me, it also said that the HD cables were defective, so maybe the reports of the 360's locking up is fake and the HD cables are defective??? Lol I'm probably wrong but just read the document anyways.

Actually #18, you and your company sucks. Holding back product in and effort to increase demand... Shame on you. Plus the fact that your company was caught red-handed pulling a switcheroo on the customers during the initial launch...
I'm still waiting to buy my 360 and it won't be from Best Buy. Trust me Sony, BMG and Best Buy won't be getting a cent from me this Christmas.

Actually, ZeroCorpse, I imagine that daily calls from everybody in the area looking for a 360 till the end of the year (if not longer) would cause a greater cumulative drop in productivity for your store than a single day or weekend's worth of campers would. All I can think of are the exasperated customer-service and media reps who had to take my calls regarding availability and such in the recent past.
Wouldn't it be better to know when more are coming in? Reselling scalpers may have even more of a chance than full-time workers (especially parents) to snag a 360 with an unknown date. At least with this knowledge in hand, people have an opportunity to queue up if a new 360's what they're looking for. Setting up a lottery has its merits, but doesn't account for folks who want a system the most (and are willing to do whatever it takes to get one).
Just some thoughts.

Come on now! anyone who shows up first at a retailer store should be the first to get a 360. screw the lottery crap. and all the people wining that campers outside the store will make theirs jobs harder well TOO BAD, QUIT! the public has a right to know when the product will be available as soon as possible!

I called two Best Buys in my local area today (Colorado Springs) and they confirmed this to be true. Both store reps said that they would be recieving 360s on the 15th to be sold that weekend and that they were told to hold 20 Pro systems until Sunday. The first store said they would be recieving 32 Pro Systems and 16 Core systems while the other said 27 Pro and 9 Core. I will be camping out Saturday Night/Sunday Morning to snag a Pro.

I work at Best Buy also, and we have not received any 360's, and will not be until the 16th or so. They are shown in the ad for the 18th saying 20 minimum, so obviously we'll have to hold them for that day. All major stores do the same type of thing when it comes to the ads, so nothing new really. I've been telling people at my store, that have asked, that we'll have it on the 18th. In a way, it's better that people get to know the date instead of having to call everyday.
Other stores besides Best Buy should be getting allocations of 360s also around this time.

it says in that poster that they have to hold 20 systems for sunday. i found a website that said my bestbuy (#200) will have 36 systems. does mean that they'l sell 16 on December 16th when they get them?

I also called 3 of my local BB and asked around if all this was true. and 2 of the 3 stores i called confirmed it was true. that they would get them on the 16th to be sold on the 18th. and for sure u would need to camp anit that a BH, and according to a site i found my loca store was going to get a "wopping" 30 xbox 360s :(
but im also wondering if there gonna sell 10 of them as soon as they come in and hold 20 for 18th.
and what did happend to customer service at BB...i one of the stores i called i was on hold for like 15-25 minutes and i get a customer service rep and i asked her and she goes no thats a rumor we don't koe when where how were gonna get them...i was like wow i know more then u and i don't even work there u should quit.
i knoe its not her fault but if a customer call with a fucking clue of what the f*ck is gonna go down don't tell me some BS like that.
just give me my danm 360
by the way i recomend u take couple of friends w/u cuz u might need to make someone bleed so that they understand that there not gonna take ur 360. i ait no BH but im gonna camp deep u feel me? :P
