If you bought an Xbox 360 for gaming, this article might flatter
you. If you bought the system for use as an eventual living room media center, you might be disappointed.
Business Week writes: "The 360's graphics are fantastic, but despite Microsoft's Media Center ambitions, the
device isn't ready to rule the living room."
The magazine cites the following reasons:
-
The 360, especially the cooling fan is loud. Okay during gaming, but not during a movie or while listening to music.
-
Media Center has very limited ability to handle high-definition programming.
-
The 360 could cannibalize Microsoft's expensive Media Center setup that the company is also pushing.
Any readers out there buy the system for uses beyond gaming?
