EA has a way of
getting sued, it seems, but it appears that a
business meeting with a small developer—over an idea for a football game—has gotten it into legal hot water once
more.
According to Reuters: "Virtual Jam owner Pernell Harris said he met with EA in late 2003 to discuss Heart of a
Champion, a football game he was developing in which players guide an athlete from high school to professional
football. Among other things, players pick the athlete's parents and handle all kinds of daily experiences from sports
practice to school homework." Sounds a lot like the new Superstar Mode in Madden 2006, doesn't it?
The validity of the charges were denied by a spokewoman for EA, of course, but even if EA finds no way out of this
feature mess, there's always some money to make the problem go away (before things
really get ugly).

Coincidence?
Maybe the developers were never told about that conversation?

I am sueing fakiu over the fact that I had the idea to get the first post. We discussed this a few years ago, and then he suddenly up and made the first post for this exact same topic.
My people and fakiu's people met, and once again fakiu's people denied all of the accusations.
Woa. Wait. Isn't that what is going on here? Virtual Jam had better get some evidence or else EA could just as easily counter-sue.

Hmmm... it's not like it's that original of an idea anyway. EA could have easily had that brought up by an employee years before their meeting with this guy. I would actually hope that in one of their creative thinking meetings they would have... oh wait. This is EA we're talking about. OF COURSE they had to steal the idea from someone else. When was the last time they came up with something new?

i wouldn't play that game anyway, most likely..
i WOULD, however, invest in a high school football game. with all the real teams and players. that'd be pretty sweet.

Even if they lose the case it won't matter much.
It didn't seem to hurt them at all when they had to pay out over 15 million to all of the artists they refused to pay.
