IGN report on an interview with Xbox's Japanese business manager, Yoshihiro Maruyama, in which he hopes that the Xbox 360 will sell a million consoles by summer 2006. The console is launched in Japan next week, on the 10th, so that's not very long, especially considering the original Xbox has only sold 50,000 units there. Crossing the million sales point is understandably important to Xbox in Japan, but with few launch titles and delays on the stronger titles (such as Dead or Alive 4), their hopes may be far-fetched. Of course, it remains to be seen whether they can actually ship a million consoles to Japan in that time, let alone sell them, but Japan may be one territory where supply outstrips demand.
