Newly proposed Revolution screens
Before anyone gets all giddy, it should be known that the developer (NIBRI) of these screens has no official
Revolution development kit or publisher ready to distribute the game. That said, the above image comes from
the game entitled Raid of the River. Actual screens were developed on a PC and in a recent interview
with Revolution Report, the developer said: "[NIBRI] would like to do this game directly for Revolution and DS.
Only Nintendo platforms [will] get this game."
If the company is truly wishing to get on board with a Revolution publisher, best of luck to them. More developers is only a good thing. But given the lack of Revolution knowledge, tech specs, and mostly the controller, it's tough to tell what the company could do with this one. Take this with the largest dose of salt Joystiq has ever prescribed and comment if you got 'em.

SWEET! River raid was Awesome!
VIVA Atari. I will still wait before buying a Revolution. I'm enjoying my 360 right now.
Mark @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Looks pretty comparable to the 360 if you ask me! Which is good news! If only it was actually running on Revolution hardware!
Kenofthedead @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Generate enough intrest in it, and perhaps Nintendo will take it on after all.
If the Revolution's development kit really is that cheap and easy to use (for Dev kits), then perhaps we will see it work out for them.
This and that Cloud game would be great on the Revolution. I hope the companies are watching this site or anyone else who has put up info on these games.
DG @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Huh? This is a game that might be on Revolution, so then this is a screen from the Revolution? I know where you can find some ACTUAL Revolution screens -- any NES or SNES fansite.
Duly taken with many grains of salt.
Cooper @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
An update of River Raid by Activision?
Why not release it for all platforms? Especially if you developed it on the PC. At least release it on the PC.
No way it looks like that on the DS.
epobirs @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
A developer that bases their platform choices on fanboyism? They've got real solid future ahead of them.
Also, they may want to talk to Activision before before any other publishers since there might be a wee problem with their content and title.
Insanity @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Who is NIBRI? I can't find any information on them anywhere. Are they new?
Kenofthedead @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
It was made on a PC first, like most games.
It is a studio that loves Nintendo, grew up on Nintendo, and wants to make games for Nintendo.
If made for any system, they want it on the new Nintendo home system, currently being called Revolution.
It is not a DS game, though I could easily see a version of it for the DS being made from them if they could.
Adrian @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Does anyone know what it takes to get a revolution dev kit?
The revolution however has me very enthused. I can think of so many amazing game experiences using that control, that it has finally re-awakened the game developer in me.
Cem @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
The concept art of the game looks pretty cool, nice atmosphere! :) I don't think this game is better suited for Nintendo platforms only, but it might be a statement just to attract MS and Sony ;)
Dan @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Yeah, I'm wondering about the developers as well. Judging from the games website (http://www.game-rotr.net/) they seem like just a small developer looking for attention, but I have to admit the screenshots look nice and they've put a lot of time into development. Maybe someone will give them a shot... I'm always up for what looks like a new rail shooter.
jc @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
I don't know... but it looks like AoE3 with some photoshopped boats/planes and a health meter thrown on the side.

The land and lighting effects look almost identical to Age of Empires 3. Aside from that, I know I would enjoy river raid again... if the gameplay was as good or better than the original.
Doug teh H-Nut @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Wow. That's a beautiful screenshot. If it looks that good on a system that won't run in HD, I'm definently getting one of these.
So what is this supposed to be? RTS? Action?
KilgoreTrout XL @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
I am so looking forward to the Revolution, but I don't know about this one- looks like a picturesque 1942. Still cool though, but not really the reason I'm going to buy one.
Perri @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
if it looks this good on a TV that isn't HD? I'd say that would be pretty simple Doug considering I was watching G4 last night and they showed AoE 3 and it looked amazing in SD. HD is not a big deal guys.
Efren @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
HD is not a big deal?
Yeah, says the guy with no HDTV.
Hevy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
This game needs to be made for a system that supports HDTV and include an option for tate mode. Get ready to stand your HDTV on its side boys!
Spence @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Best of luck to them.. Can only hope indie guys like this get taken seriously this generation, instead of being relogated to the portable market.. which with the DS isn't such a bad thing, but revolution would really allow them freedom.
ZeroCorpse @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Hey! I have some games I'd like to see published, too!
"Hombre de Pac"
"Time of the Burger"
"Bobble of the Bubble"
"Invaders... from Space"
"Dash the Boulders"
"The Beast who was Altered"
"Flying on the Backs of Ostriches and Buzzards with Lances in Hand"
"Super Itallian Plumbers"
"Xiq"
"The Persian Prince"
"Solid Gears of Metal"
...and so on. Aren't I cool and original? Surely, nobody would sue me for those original ideas!
Doug teh H-Nut @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
Dude. You totally forgot Mons Who Poke. I'm totally using that one and I'm going to make three times as much money as you.
tao @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
#6 - Fanboyism? Clearly they see that the (PC's mouse), DS's stylus, and the revmote will help the gameplay of this game in a way that dual joysticks and tons of buttons cannot.
Matt @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
"If it looks that good on a system that won't run in HD, I'm definently getting one of these."
You're saying that about a 425x319 screenshot?
eric @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
ZeroCorpse that cracked me up...
"Flying on the Backs of Ostriches and Buzzards with Lances in Hand"
Why aren't more game titles this funny?
levi @ Dec 18th 2005 9:02PM
#6: Yes, heaven forbid a developer be excited about a specific platform. Games always turn out better when developers shoot for the most common (read: lowest) denominator and don't take advantage of any specific features that the different hardware makes available...
Aaron hancock @ Dec 22nd 2005 11:56PM
I still don't see what is impressive about the 360... I've played Call of Duty 2 on HDTV and the graphics are not impressive... It still doesn't even come close to the graphics on the PC, IMO.
