I swear, if I have to travel around half the damn gameworld to complete a quest that rewards me with a heart-piece, I'm quitting Zelda.

I'm so tired of the endless sidequests with meager rewards in the latest Zelda games. Yeah, it extends the length of the game, but does it make it more fun?

I dunno...

Zelda launch title would be pretty compelling for the Revolution.....

Though a Mario 128 (no sunshine please) would be enough probably.

Shame on you,#2. Sure it may be annoying for you, but just think about how annoying it was for the actors in the game. They have to spend hours running around, entertaining you, just to hear you complain about it? Next time you want to go around complaining about something, make sure you consider everybody's feelings first.

What does everyone have against Mario Sunshine? Maybe I'm just a latecomer (Gamecube was my first console), but I've completed both Mario Sunshine and Mario 64 (DS version) and of the two, I preferred Sunshine. It had more variation, more addictiveness and some great levels.

I keep thinking "gee, it's too bad they're releasing these big first-party games so close to the release of a new console." Then I realize the backwards compatibility makes it a moot point. And to those who hate on the side-quests... I love 'em! Throw more random quirky things to explore and discover! That's what Zelda games are ABOUT dammit!

Sunshine was a great game (especially the "old school levels") - but the setting and the water canon made it very unmario-alike.

@2, nobody says you HAVE to do every sidequest. That's why they are sidequests.

Well they get 50 bucks for each games and plus its their job to do that, so yeah you should complain. If not, then there's no room for growth.

Na. Sure, Sunshine can be fun for a while, but it just isn't a mario game in the same vein of other Mario games. It's the modern version of the U.S. Mario 2, as where in things divert from the normal path, and most of our well known friends and enemies are missing (for the most part).

I'd love to see a return to the side scrolling action, like Super Mario World, but if it had to be 3-D I'd definately want it to return to it's more origional form.

I agree, both my wife and I really enjoyed Sunshine. As well as Windwaker. Plus the side quests are a constant source of comical bickering between us. She'd be on an island and ask me what she'd have to do or what would be the reward for that particular quest. To which I'd reply "I don't know". She'd reply "Liar!". Since it wasn't exactly linear it really was a good chance I didn't know. We both are really looking forward to Twilight Princess.

Wow, I don't feel like the new guy anymore! (The N64 was my first console and ironically, Mario 64 was my first game.) I didn't/don't mind Sunshine. I still haven't beaten it because it doesn't quite have that "Play Me Please" feel that Mario 64 does. Personally, I still like 2D platformers, so I'd like to see a 2D Mario game above all else. It'd go great with the controller. (Not for the 3D space positioning, but the button layout.)

I have a friend who'll probably not listen to me and get a Gamecube soon, if for Twilight Princess and nothing else, but he's worried it'll be put on Revolution instead. Which is one reason I keep telling him to hold out for a Revolution.

How the hell would a Gamecube disc work with a slot drive? They're like 3" instead of 4.5"...

That's true, I don't have to. I like sidequests in fact. I just find it annoying that you complete some very long ones and only get a piece of heart, or worse, rupees.

There are things that have been bothering me about the series lately though. A major gripe I have is not being able to skip ANYTHING. To me, that is just pretentious.

You have to watch every cut scene, even if you've already played it.

You have to sit there and wait for every song to complete when you conduct it.

You have to watch Link pull up and open every treasure chest.

It's not a deal-breaker, but it is annoying. I have high hopes for Twilight Princess though.

(BTW, I haven't played Minish Cap, but plan on picking it up. Hopefully, it's not plagued with the same issues.)

Sunshine was a good game, people were just expecting a lot more of it and/or not another similar Mario game.

Mario Brothers was it's own game.
Super Mario Bros was quite diffrent from above.
Super Mario 2 was more of the same, but that was okay. In America though, it got a bit of a problem.
Super Mario Bros 2 in the U.S. was a diffrent series with Mario skins on the characters instead, a blast of a game it was, and it was diffrent.
Super Mario Bros 3 was quite a step up from the first, two (Lost Levels) and for obvious reasons completly diffrent from U.S. 2.
Super Mario World was bigger, diffrent AI all the way through, and diffrent enough to make it noteable.
Super Mario 64 was 3D for the first time, it was amazing to play.
Now we get to Super Mario Sunshine.
Many people had a problem with it because it wasn't that diffrent, and felt more like an expansion to Super Mario 64 then a new game. It let some people down.

Personal I loved it though, and it was generaly well liked all around, but easily insulted first or put down.
Had it been a Gamecube launch title, it would have been diffrent I'm sure.

When you expect more or something diffrent, but for the most part get the same, it hurts how you view a game.

Twlight Princess is going to be over a 100 hours of play time (for everything), a large world, wonderful controlls (from what I had a chance to play at PAX), good play and use of the Horse (again, demo), and visual some of the best work done yet for the Gamecube.

Add to that a use with the Revolution, which even though we all knew was coming, is good news.

Though the April comment might be an incorrect statement, so take it with a grain of salt at the moment until Nintendo (of your market) states for sure that is what it is.

Now where are the crazy rumours trying to figure out what the controlls, add-ons, etc will be when played on the Revolution?

Nintendo have already confirmed that the self-loading slot will accomodate the smaller GC discs, so rest easy :)

My fave Mario ever is Super Mario World on the SNES. [please note: I did NOT say it was the best, only MY favourite. If your gona be an as* and try to blaze for having an opinion don't!... *he looks at certain people*]

I also pre-ordered TP back in March! But i'm still worried I might not get a copy at launch :(

As for sidequests - I would turn on Ocarina of Time, Ride my trusty steed to the lake and fish idly for a while just to de-stress after a hard day (or any day for that matter) - So bring on the sidequests and mini-games!

When I first played Mario Sunshine, I thought "man this game sucks". Then I played past the first few shines, then I was hooked. I'm pretty sure it's my favorite Mario game. Ambience, music, and the best graphics on gamecube IMO make it one of my favorite games of all time.

Super Smash Brothers Melee and Mario Sunshine were the games that converted me to console gaming. Before then, I was a PC gaming snob who looked down his nose at Nintendo: now, I hardly game on anything other than DS/Gamecube/PS2.

I still don't 'get' the 2D Mario games, though. I find them nowhere near as fun as 64/Sunshine.

After seeing trailers and info on Twilight Princess I had my mind set that I needed a GameCube haha. Funny thing is my mom decided that she wanted to get a Gamecube for my youngest sister for Christmas and although I wouldnt own it personally I sure as heck didnt disagree hahaha. Plus there are abunch of must have games for the GameCube anyways. I've recently been sucked into the world of Donkey Konga after my friend bought the game. That game is so fun and addicting and its funny cause after having some of our friends play Donkey Konga they said they want a GameCube (one went even as far as to buy the Kongas and he doesnt even own a GameCube yet hahaha.) and this is surprising cause this is coming from my friends who think a Xbox is all you need haha.

Yeah, I thought that too, but check out the actual quote from Reggie...

"Revolution is a system with wich you will be able to play Zelda, because it's backwards compatible, but it's important to know that we will have this Zelda adventure for Gamecube."

So he basically says that it'll be able to play it just because it's backwards compatable.

Best Zelda ever=best game ever. This is going to be epic. nothing more needs to be said. that must mean it has the charm of the 2D games, the sadness of Links Awakening, the gameplay of Windwaker, the scale of Ocarina, the originality of Legend of Zelda 1. with the compatibility of the Rev controller. jesus. I may even sell my soul just to get a Rev on day 1.

Having started my gaming with the NES (I'm 20), I'd have to say Mario64 was THE Mario game just because it was SO new. People are claiming that the 360 feels like more of the same... and they reference Mario64 as being what you want for the launch of a console. I remember renting the 64 to play the Mario game, and I didn't leave the couch for anything but food and bathroom breaks... and I stil didn't beat it on my 3 day rental. It was so expansive and new, and something about the startup "It's a-me, Mario!" just sent chills down my spine. I imagine playing it now isn't much compared to the new experiences of Mario Sunshine, etc, but then it was the best thing around, and that was a good thing.

As for LoZ:TP, I've said since this latest delay was announced that the game was being made to get some enhancement on the Revolution, which would make since with the controller. "Play TP on the Gamecube, then get the Rev to get a whole new experience controlling Link's sword and shield with realistic flicks of the wrist". And the length of the game is due to the number of temples, though it will undoubtedly include long side quests. I've read somewhere (IGN, maybe?) that TP will have several more dungeons and temples than OoT had.

And as far as the Rev's loading slot, look right below it. There's a tray that looks like it's the right size for a Gamecube disc.

I'll also add more support for Sunshine, even though it's totally off-topic. To those who say that Sunshine wasn't a true/typical Mario game, take a look at the rest of the series. You think Mario busting it out in a world full of dinosaurs was anything like Mario 1, 2 and 3? It plays like a Mario game, Mario's in it... I'd say that's as much a Mario game as Mario World. After going back and playing Mario 64, even though both games are really good, I think I prefer Mario Sunshine. It's obviously not as groundbreaking as Mario 64, but it's fine-tuning and perfecting the Mario formula, as all games in the Mario series have done.

The best Mario game was Super Mario Bros. 3, then came Mario 64. Mario Sunshine was a big dissapointment, it was only a few notches better then Luigis Mansion.

Zelda games are fun but this new one aint gonna be the best game ever, hell it aint even gonna take game of year. Heres to Gears of War.

Yeah, Twilight Princess will be a gamecube game. I never doubted it would. While there are several reasons for them to wait for the Revolution to release it, it's a smarter marketing strategy to release it for the GC.

As for why it's been delayed till April, the reason is Miyamoto really wants to make it the best Zelda ever. Miyamoto and Aonuma were very disappointed with Wind Waker. They felt it was unfinished, they got about 7/8 of the way through the game, and then had to rush it to release. That's where the Triforce fetch quests at the end came from. That wasn't how it was originally intended to be. Rather than doing that with TP, they're taking all the time they need to make it a signature game for the GC and LoZ.

And, if you want a new 2d Super Mario Bros, pick up a DS. Not right now, but there's a game called New Super Mario Bros. coming out for the Nintendo DS sometime next year, as well as Super Princess Peach which was released in Japan this year, and will be available in the US in January or February of next year. It's a 2d platformer as well, although I understand Peach controls very differently from the Mario Bros. It's gotten only slightly better than mediocre reviews, so might want to try to find those and see what other people have to say before picking it up. On the other hand, everyone who's played the demo for New Super Mario Bros. has loved it, so that's encouraging.

And yes, the Revolution has technology that will allow it to read both standard size DVDs and GC miniDVDs in the same slot. The little slow below that is actually for SD card storage, which I'm hoping is the only memory architecture the Rev uses. Proprietry memory cards are nice and all, but I already have a 1 gig SD card for my digital camera. If I can turn around and use that for my Rev save games as well, and better yet, use my pc card reader to copy them to my pc so I never have to worry about losing my save games again (I don't know how many times I've had to restart Final Fantasy Tactics cause the memory card died) I will be very happy.

OK, see, the deal is that it may be for BOTH.

It's GOING to be GCN game, but people are saying the reason it's delayed is so Nintendo can add some stuff and work in a Revolution control scheme. What this means is that you play it on the Cube all happy-like, and when the Rev. comes out, you stick it in there, and you can play it with the new controller, too!

This, in my opinion, does make sense, and could be very cool. It's all about how long it will take.

If Zelda DOES come out in April, I'll be a happy clam. If, later next year, I can play it all over again with a new control scheme unlike any other I've used, I'll be all for that, too.

Nintendo really is putting all of their eggs in a Zelda basket, and I don't think they can afford to delay this game again. It would be rather crushing, indeed, especially with the next gen breathing down their necks like that creepy dude in Family Guy--"Just wanted to see the paper boy..."

(My apologies to everyone who has no idea what I'm talking about)
