Gamasutra is reporting that Microsoft plans to launch the 360 in Asian markets, excluding Japan which launches on the 10th, early this spring. South Korea will launch on February 24th, while Taiwan and Singapore will launch with Australia on March 2nd. Prices have not been announced, and it is unknown if they will launch two models or a single model like they will in Japan. In reponse to why these launches weren't postponed in order to meet demand in the rest of the world, regional Xbox head Alan Bowman responded, "We wanted to make sure within the first six months that we could get the 360 into all existing Xbox 1 markets." I hope they know what they're doing; these shortages might make great press, but they do little to engender goodwill amongst consumers eager to spend money, yet unable to. Their ambition is admirable, but hopefully not foolish.
