Following hot on the heels of the other anonymous-developer
rumormongering from late last night, a timetable has also been
set (again, anonymously) for the U.S. release of the Revolution: the week of Thanksgiving 2006.
Launching that week seemed to work for the 360, right? If true, this November American release date would fall
perfectly in line with
the 2006 launch period proffered for the Revolution by key Nintendo executives up to this point, but would lend
little support to the early-summer (or even late-spring) launch rumors we've all heard before.
Reports of a global launch could not be confirmed by these supposedly trustworthy sources (i.e., studios who spoke
under the condition of anonymity), though earlier words from NoE's Jim Merrick concerning a global
14-week launch window for the Revolution will not soon be forgotten.
[Thanks, kekleon64]

Should be about the same time the PS3 hits the US market, or maybe even before.

I just dont believe it will come out any later than June.

They are releasing more information about the system in May. Why would they do that and then release it in June, one month later. That wouldn't make any sense. This is a very likely scenario, since most game companies want their systems to come out around Nov. - Dec. I personally think that Nintendo should stay away fro mthe PS3 launch, or they will lose a lot of hype.

Well hopefully for Nintendo the PS3 is delayed until 2007 otherwise it would be a shame for them to try and compete with the PS3 if they're released at the same time.

I agree a Nov. launch would be perfect timing for them. Everyone would have gotten their PS3, and those shopping for cheap christmas tech. gifts would be able to grab one up. What's troubling was that the game developers where working from a souped up GameCube insted of a Revolution Dev. itself.

I might slice my Turkey real thin and use the Revolution to cook it...one slice at a time.
It plays games AND cooks your food!!

So using the Revolution I can cut the turkey and use the 360 Power Brick to heat up my George PS3 Grill, which will take all the fat out.
So the media was wrong, videogames do help. They teach you how to cook and eat low-fat food.
Now I still want the Revolution to come out in June, but I will admit Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for a system release.
However it would be a bad choice if the PS3 comes out at the same time, unless they have shortages to (just look how the 360 helped out the DS).

Kenofthedead... How did the 360 help the DS? I must have missed that memo.

I think you have the notion that the PS3 is going to be out before Nov next year. Maybe in Japan but certainly not anywhere else in the world.

Speculate all you want, none of you know anything concrete anyways.
We will know a hell of a lot once May comes which makes a late 2006 launch seem reasonable, but no one knows when it will arrive outside of Japan. Same goes for the PS3, we may see it in 2007 here and if X360 has a year and a half lead on the other guys, its going to have a great library before the other 2 even launch. I hope we do see both of them by end of 2006 outside of Japan, but I doubt it. Till then, I'll enjoy my X360 while the fanboys wait for news, never mind the hardware. Don't get me wrong, I'll prob get a PS3 and Revo, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the X360.

When a number of buyers did not get the 360 for obvious reasons, quite a few decided to get something else instead of going home and feeling like they wasted their time.
The DS with Mario Kart DS saw quite a bit of sells during the X-Box 360 launch.
True it was not a big help or on purpose, but help it was.

All I know is that you'll have to put your money down as soon as humanly possible if you want one. I'm not looking forward to yet another pain in the ass, line waiting, no console getting, system launch. I hope Nintendo does something different. Perhaps making enough consoles for everyone that want's one is a start.

They're not going to do a worldwide stupid ass zero hour launch, the word on the street is there may be a US and europe launch before Japan, I expect it will take a few months to get stocks up nicely in between region, say Summer for US/Europe, Autumn for Europe/US and Winter for Japan?

The DS and MKDS saw very good sales DESPITE the xbox 360 launch. You theory assumes that no gamers had to choose between the 2 and went with the xbox360. This is a very poor assumption. I have several friends who are very excited about MKDS but used their money for the 360 launch instead. My guess is there are lots of peolple who opted for the 360 over the DS since its launch. Most people can't just go out and drop $750 to get both with games. Your theory is weak, incomplete, and very likely wrong.

Plenty of time to get that, and X360 and a PSP, and then the PS3 when MGS4 comes out. This "Buy Every System" thing is working fairly well so far. :P

It doesn't matter when the Rev comes out June or Nov. As long as it's not on or near the same date as PS3. Even then it wouldn;t be too bad because of the (alleged) price difference.
The fact of the matter is that this time Nintendo isn't really fighting either MS or Sony for market share. They seem to be aiming for second system status. Rather than be a straight-forward gaming machine like the cube (which I love, but I'm in a bit of a minority) thet are unique and innovative. With a couple of system selling games and some key third parties they can even sell more units than either although as a second system to either the PS3 or X360. That's kind of a depressing thought, but thinking this is a three way fight is probably off base a little. Their price point alone will guarantee second system status in people's homes.
There just aren't enough unique titles on either PS3 or X360 for me to shell out over a thousand dollars total for the systems and then buy games too. I'll buy one. Then the Rev for some truly unique and fun gameplay. Let's go Smash bros., Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, etc.....

They probably want the summer launch so that developers can get used to the system and start getting the good games out for Christmas. Nintendo really should have the platform be mature enough to demonstrate its strengths by then.

I looked at the picture and laughed. Is the Revo supposed to be competing with the turkey? Is the turkey representing another console vs the Revo?Maybe two turkeys in the picture?Maybe it's a special Nintendo promotion where some lucky people will find a Revo inside their turkey.Ah I know,it's the only way a parent can persuade their kids to eat at the table.
