Recently-renovated Nintendo site 4 color rebellion
tells us that today is Satoru Iwata's 46th birthday (7
years younger the Shigeru Miyamoto). Iwata once worked at
HAL Laboratory, contributing to games such as EarthBound, Kirby and Super Smash Bros. He
took the role of Nintendo's president in 2002, succeeding
Hiroshi Yamauchi, who held the position for 53 years.
Mr. Iwata has overseen Nintendo during the GameCube's non-commital online stance,
"Cel-da," the
launch of the Nintendo DS, and the development of the
Revolution, and year-after-year of profit for the company (despite its
trailing position in console market share). Is Satoru leading Nintendo down the right path for the company?
Either way, happy birthday, dude - take it easy on the Sake, tonight.
Happy Birthday, Satoru Iwata
