In a move reminiscent of Microsoft's purchase of
Halo-developer Bungie before the launch of the original Xbox, Sony has acquired the Amsterdam-based studio
behind its popular (and ongoing) Killzone franchise about a year or so before the launch of its next
PlayStation.
The announcement surrounding Guerrilla Games is said to be "a strategic move to secure long term excellence in game
development for current and future PlayStation platforms." PS3 and PSP sequels for Killzone (Sony's hoped-for
Halo-killer) are currently in development.
In other news, Sony FPS fans can't wait for the Helghast character-twist and annoying cliffhanger in the next
game.
