According to VooDoo PC founder Rahul Sood, Intel's next generation desktop processor, code-named "Conroe", will put the chip making giant back on track after having lost market and mind share to AMD in recent years. Conroe, the desktop compliment to Intel's forthcoming Merom mobile chip, is "scary on paper", he says.
Sood (who accused Intel of being a bully a few months ago) believes the next generation of low voltage processors from both companies will usher in a new era of healthy competition for the PC industry. Could Conroe also be the replacement for Apple's G5 desktops in the future?
