In addition to Reggie Fils-Aime's UBS
presentation, Nintendo has released market share data for the handheld video game industry. Punch Jump
writes: "Nintendo currently owns 72% of the handheld market, with Game Boy Advance at 41%, Nintendo DS at 31%, and PSP
at 28%." Also, the DS is still leads all console sales in Japan."
It should be noted that the PSP was released some four months after the DS launch in North America. But few can deny
the recent DS sales surge this fourth quarter thanks mostly to the large list of high ranking first-party games.
Any readers surprised by these numbers?
