Following up on their bankruptcy, subsequent
auction, and auction
followup comes news that Acclaim may not be dead just yet.
Using the zombie magic of the Caribbean "business", the company hopes to reinvent itself as "the first US major
brand to bring some of the most successful online games in the world" to "36 million U.S. tweens and the 41 million
European tweens." I know, what the hell is a tween? According to this
website it's a child between the ages of 9 and 12.
So Acclaim is hoping to distribute South Korean online games for free to entice casual users and eventually make money
using the relatively unproven and nascent micropayment strategy, all to a demographic of tweens? Sounds like a sure
bet. What ever happened to the good old Acclaim that made a bunch of crappy licensed games? Oh yeah, they went out of
business.
Anyone smell rotting flesh?
