As video games' elder statesman, Pac-Man has seen it all. He's been whored out to promote a variety of products over the years, so it's not so much with surprise but with bemusement that we play PakMan, a slick flash game that exploits the concept to sell fancy suits made by Netherlands suit maker SuitSupply.
The implementation is actually pretty clever. You run around in your underwear in a maze chased by fat men in wife beaters and tighty-whities. The maze is dotted with little blue pills (Viagra?) and the power-pill is a suit. Gobbling the suit power-up clothes you in a fancy suit and allows you to fly around the maze like a super-hero. Rescue the captured, camisoled princess and you'll win a certificate for a free tie, shirt, or suit (with purchase). Wakka wakka.
Will Sonic and Mario ever shill suits? Depends how tightly the companies that own those brands control them. Even a venerable brand like Mickey Mouse has been used to promote a variety of products, from watches to Happy Meals.
