Ubisoft bringing console titles to PSP
Ubisoft
have released their fiscal reports for the year to date, and things are looking good for the publisher. It has managed
to reduce its operating loss, halve its net debt and increase its sales, and the report states that the company is on
track to meet all its targets this year, including €600m of sales.
The fiscal year ends on March 31st, so the financial report also includes the titles scheduled for release in
January-March 2006. Interestingly, this includes Brothers in Arms (PSP) and Tom Clancy's Splinter
Cell Essentials (PSP), as well as Rainbow Six Lockdown (PC) and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
(360, Xbox, PS2, PC). There's also a mysterious "new title" which has yet to be announced—speculation should fly over
the next few weeks. It could be the yet-to-be-confirmed
Splinter Cell Double Agent or an entirely
unexpected title.

Maybe its just me, but i don't care for any of the titles listed. the PSP needs some RPGs, Adventure and Action games to get it back on track! They also need more familiar brands like Castlevania for example which are true sequels, not spin offs like Metal Gear Acid.

Yay for more ports for PSP! [/sarcasm]
This is why I haven't bought a new game for my PSP since launch...

According to Xbox.com Ubisoft/Clancy games are now compatible with Xbox 360:
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 Summit Strike
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 Black Arrow
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
This is great news - now give us Battlefield 2!!!!

I don't care if many PSP titles are ports. Ports and originals can be great games. The DS and GBA have had more than their share of ports and retreads. Fact is that multi-platform titles are the rule rather than the exception these days. We all know the DS is kiddie litter.

Ports can be great fun... Too bad the Prince of Persia port isn't.

Where is Beyond Good & Evil!? Oh, Ubi! Why do you pretend it never existed! =(

Since Ubisoft published Q Entertainment's Lumines outside of Japan, I wonder if the "new title" could be Every Extend Extra? It would be a relief to hear that confirmed for release in US retail stores.
In any case, I'm looking forward to more Ubisoft goodness on PSP.
By the way, Virtuous is right. The PSP library has an excellent mix of high-quality conversions from other platforms as well as exciting original games. PSP has really matured nicely in the short time it has been available.

Dude DS is outselling the PSP, just to let you know. There are good games on both machines moosh and Mario Kart is awesome
Kamalot @ Dec 18th 2005 9:38PM
While they may turn out to be fery nice ports, who would buy the portable version instead of the real deal?
Why settle for fewer polygons, no surround sound, poor textures and the like when, for less $$$, you can get the game for your full blown console and play it on your huge TV?
Kamalot @ Dec 18th 2005 9:38PM
And don't listen to Dude. His URL, Nintendont, links straight to Sony. He isn't open minded about playing games that may be good. He's a tool for the Sony Hype machine.

Just give us sequels to Beyond Good and Evil goddammit!
