eBay is shaping up to be a reliable place to find Xbox 360s, but at what cost? Analysis firm Terapeak has taken a look at the number of 360 sales since launch, and the statistics are terrifying. During the week after launch, consoles were flying off the virtual shelves at a rate of one every thirteen seconds, and at an average selling price of $718 per unit -- nearly twice the original price.
In order for listings to stand out, many sellers used the premium picture services and emboldened their titles, meaning that eBay must be very happy indeed with the huge amount of fees they've received. Hopefully as more shipments come in, the marketplace will quieten down a little.
