In the fall of 2006, Namco will release Snoopy vs. The Red
Baron, a Peanuts-licensed air combat game where you can pick from 12 classic characters and duke it out
in over 50 single playing missions and multiplayer battle. The idea of bringing violence to the world of
Peanuts kind of makes me uneasy, but intrigued nonetheless.
However, for games expecting release late next year, why is Namco planning to distribute them as Xbox and PlayStation
2 games? By releasing Red Baron one generation behind, the company is all but securing the title's fate as
completely ignored. The average consumer is not going to buy a current generation title when they can instead purchase
a game designed for their newest (and costly) toy. Namco has almost a year to make this game a gorgeous (and fun)
franchise title; why not capitalize on the time offered? Good grief.
