While we're all looking forward to Nintendo's
next generation, it's often interesting to take a step back and look back
at the past. Seeing what has led to the current state of the console market is useful in helping us discern the
future—success and failure are easy to predict, with hindsight.

If you're interested in reliving a piece of console history for yourself, many older consoles are available cheaply
on eBay, often with huge bundles of games attached. We have fond memories of buying
an entire bag of ZX Spectrum games for a quid at a car boot sale—this is the digital equivalent.
