According to the latest issue of Game Informer (via
GamersReports), Splinter Cell 4 (or "Double Agent") will see Sam Fisher pulling NOC
(Non-Official Cover) duties, in an attempt to infiltrate a terrorist organization know as John Brown's Army (JBA).
Indeed, Sam's daughter has been killed by a drunk driver, a tragedy that results in Fisher's departure from Echelon,
but, as you may have guessed, the "Most Wanted" reports are a ploy to get Sam in with the JBA. Sam has not gone AWOL,
but players will have an opportunity to partake in criminal activity in an effort to stay undercover.
We've already heard Ubisoft boast about the game's visuals, and now they're ready to back it up with further details about the Xbox 360 version. The prison level (featured in the few scattered screens that have been released) is said to simulate a living environment where thousands of NPCs will interact with each other, regardless of the player's actions. In addition, Ubisoft plans to add "directed moments," which are essentially player-controlled cut scenes.
Online, spies vs. mercs has been expanded to 3-on-3, and will include new gadgets like flying drones. And online co-op will now feature the full campaign, plus a challenge mode.
[Thanks, alvin]
