iFilm has two clips of a purported "video game poetry slam." These "beat necks" [sic] groove on the games
they played on their Atar-ays back in the heyday, no way will they allow Xbox three-six-tay
get in the way of their retro gameplay.
Really, it doesn't sounds like that though. Ernie waxes nostalgic about Atari while Shappy adopts a mannered
Shakespearean English accent to bring you a poem about Joust. They're fun enough, though I was really hoping
for a full blown competetive video game themed poetry slam. This will suffice until such a thing exists.
If you must further sate your videogame poetry fix, check out Seth "Fingers" Flynn Barkan's book of "Prose, Poems, and
Emoto-Versatronic Expressionist Pieces About Video Games" entitled Blue Wizard Is About To Die! Here is an
excerpted stanza from his poem entitled
Joust:
the clicking hooves of the black knight's
demon ostrich bang like gavels on your guts
as he canters slowly towards you,
with those fucked up white eyes,
like something totally alien lives behind the shell of his human form,
his blue silhouette
