G4 cancels two shows, revamps a third

Hmmm... too bad because I actually enjoy those shows. Shows I don't care for... Cheat- though I do find it interesting you can get those codes online in minutes, Fastlane- what the crap?, All those car shows (its a GAME CHANNEL), XPLAY- tries to hard to be funny, I'm getting tired of Morgan Webb's cute pouty face schtick. I liked it at first, I thought it was cute but she does it waaay too much. Arenas- is just plain stupid. She's overrated. Best shows are ICONS and Judgement Day. The hosts on Judgement Day are great together. They are brutal and have a good rapport. My 2 cents.

fawazr - if you don't think Morgan Webb is hot then your either spending too much time stalking your high school team's star tight end or you need new eyeglasses.

I am a bit surprised they cancelled G4TV.com since it was an okay show and it's sure a lot more worthwhile to watch then that Man Show crap.

Maybe I'm in the minority on this, but there's a few shows worth on G4 worth watching and sadly G4tv.com was one of them(Icons is another great show). That show, in my opinion, is what Attack of the Show should be. Give G4tv.com the AOTS time slot and exchange faggy geoff for Kevin P.

G4tv.com is the only show I've watched on G4 since the merger. If it's getting the axe, I guess I'm done with that stupid channel. (It's a shame, too. G4 used to be the only channel I watched during the day.)

Street Fury should be re-named to... lets give black people even more stereotypes. The guy who hosts that show sounds like the biggest simpleton on the face of the globe. Ebonics fo life!

Icons and Xplay were the only decent shows left since they ruined the Screen Savers. I'm sorry, but that Kevin P guy is really really annoying. AOTS is crap. Not as bad as that "Unscrewed" show in the past, but pretty close. Not funny at all.

Don't get me started on the Whip Set and Street Fury. Ugh.

As for G4TV.com being axed, I'm sorry to see Lara Foy and Tina Wood out of work. They were likable enough, but the show didn't really do much for me either.

I'm upset but not suprised. G$TV has been hemorrhaging shows and ratings since it took over techTV. If I'm not mistaken, the current head of the network WANTS to make it another SpikeTV. When its stated that 'The Man Show' is among the highest rated show, well I guess its just basic math. Bringing on shows like Street Fury and (FFS..) Fastlane only reflect the direction they are trying to go in.

I don't think you can get too mad at g4's programming in terms of product placement and playing favorites. They have said in the past that they want to 'sell games'. They are a network after all, not much different from any other corporate whore really. They are going to have sponsors for their segments, although it would be nice if it weren't so transparent.

I think if gamers are looking for a better, if not more pure outlet for game-related media, podcasts are probably the way to go. I likened g4TV to one, even though it seems that of late, I don't remember seeing the "our opinions do not reflect those of G4TV" that used to make up their introduction.

Let this channel die, and hopefully someone better will come along and do it right.

G4 just gets worse and worse. when will they figure out that gamers want to watch shows where games are discussed and reviewed, not crappy-ass car shows and re-runs of one of televisions most forgettable variety show?

is it just me or is G4 being coming more of a "pop" channel instead of gaming? THe merge wiht Tech TV was stupid because basically nothing from Tech Tv stayed. I only watch X-Play 'cause everything else is crap.

cinematech is the best thing on G4. what they need to do is extend that show and include more games, more in-game (not pre-rendered scenes) scenes, more of what people want. when i'm flipping channels and come across cinematech i'll stop and watch it typically, but the major problem with G4 is their repetition. they play the same thing about 4 times a day, and they must have more content then that with all the thousands of games on the market and footage they have of events.

provide the viewers with what they want to watch - we like games, we watch games.

icons is a great show as well and i hope they keep it close to the format it is in now, if they change it even the slightest for the worse it will mark the end of a good thing.

This is horrible G4tv.com Filter and Icons were the only shows I watched anymore, Icons was great because it was well written and I am assuming because G4TV.com is going that means Tina Wood will no longer be writing Icons...so that's it G4 destroyed my favorite channel ever then just beat the rest of the goodness out of G4. It proves that companies cannot make theme channels aimed at teenagers because as we saw, G4, MTV, Fuse all just turned into the same crap!!! CNet this is when you need to start planning a TV channel Cnet TV, You have most of the old Tech TV guys anyway, Have it cover all of your websites (Gamespot, MP3.com, and, TV.com, plus of course Cnet)

G4tv.com was pretty good.. Don't give a rat's ass about Filter, though.

AotS and Icons are the only shows I can bear.

I actiually find that one thing that G4 has done well was Icons, and some of their specials like the one on sex and violence in video games panel, and their E3 special wasn't bad either.

I'm actually a litle worried about what they'll do to Icons. Honestly, what do they need to "revamp"? I know one thing I wish they had done was punch it up to an hour, like they did with the Tim Schaefer and Psychonauts. I like what they did with Frank Miller too. I do fear that what they have interms of revamp will be like AOTS. May heaven have mercy on us if we get another Kevin P as a host...or worse, the actual thing...

G4 just die would you! If the FCC requires cable and satellite providers to offer individual channels G4 would be 1 of the 1st channels to go under.

This is the final straw, G4 was the one decent show left on the G4TV network. There is no reason to continue watching G4TV programming, that is besides Call4help which I will be downloading from the internet instead. To show my disgust and dissatisfaction with the G4TV network I will be canceling my Comcast account and will be getting DirectTV. I urgue others to vote with their dollars as well and cancel their Comcast accounts…

Granted, G4 is CRAP. I must say, for the love of god, CANCEL JUDGEMENT DAY. Of all shows I've seen on G4 in the past- cancel that one.

G4 sucks. Tommy Tallarico has no business being on TV. Morgan Webb is not hot (but she thinks she is). Also, she is not funny (but she thinks she is). Filter was basically an infomercial. Arena is like 3 years old. Fastlane sucked when it was new. Cheat takes a half hour to tell me what I can find out in 10 seconds on gamefaqs. The man show was funny 5 years ago when I saw it the first time. AOTS is a nice roundup of what I already read on blogs three days previously. Cinematech is good if you're in a certain state of mind...

How can they get rid of g4tv.com? It was one of the best shows on the channel. Why didnt they get rid of some worthless show like cheat? Or all of the stupid shows that have nothing at all to do with videogames. My prediction is that g4 will some day turn into an mtv sort of thing. They started with a lot of videogame shows but they will eventually have no videogame shows left and will have to make a g4tv2 or something.

To the people that complain about X-Plays 1-5 rating system:

Most of the games that get 3s are AVERAGE games at best. 3 is AVERAGE on a 1-5 scale. The games get the rating that they deserve. They don't exactly hand out 5 out of 5's to any hyped up game that comes down the pike. Id rather have a 1-5 scale than a 1-10 scale, because its more definitive.

But yes, even X Play isn't what it used to be, which sucks.

Good times that was...Leo and Kate Botello in the basement--the only Screensavers format I will recognize. Plus Tilde and Dash! Internet Tonight! WTF happened to Scott Herriott anyway..?

I didn't mind Filter too much although some of the jokes came across as "Omigawsh, I'm reading this off of a teleprompter!" Judgement Day, however, is just awesome. I dunno, it just feels legitimate. (A girl hosts the cheat code show. Come. On. Guys. Not gonna happen until the Revolution comes out.)

i admit that g4 pretty much sucks. i loved the sreensavers, i loved tech live, fresh gear, call for help(no screech though, leo leporte only) screensavers everything they left in san fran, well except for future fighting machines, that spy crap, that money machine show or whatever sucked too, and of course robot wars. i also like aots, old filter, g4tv.com, judgement day's pretty good too. i dont see why they can't co-exist and just get rid the car bullshit and the man show can be put on spike since it is the men network or whatever...

You now what is Probably the biggest irony in the whole g4/techtv debacle? When Leo was talking about the old techtv on twit a couple of weeks ago. He said a main reason the network failed was because 95% of the audience was male and wanted desperately to expand out of that demo group.

Right now today the networks are scrambling trying to find ways to draw the 18-24 men back to the tv. Gee I think I know a way that they could. to bad their too stupid to understand it.

I loved the The Screensavers yea the lineup changed a lot and everyone's "classic" lineup depends on when you first started watching the show. But they got the formula right.

When I first started watching you had Patrick and Leo two old, fat, nerdy guys who could tell anything you wanted to know about your computer. You also had Yoshi who could tell who to turn a frito bag into a computer case. And finally and most importantly you had the girls who were actually smart and knew what they were talking about. You had Morgan who at that time bleached blond and had very punk look to her, yes back then she WAS hot. then you had Cat Shwartz the petite red head with a wild streak... which paid off when she accidently posted topless pics of herself on her blog. Finally you had Megan who wasn't "hot" but she was wholesomely pretty... the maryanne of the show and the one you might actually have a shot with. They were nice to look at and if you actually paid attention you'd learn about some program that could download the entire internet into a thumb drive.

Man I miss that show.

Alright... so maybe I am late with this... but I just read it and could not help but comment.

To the majority of people posting on here, I would like to offer a huge... SHUT THE F UP.

Your true lack of understanding about about the big picture and myopic rememeberance of TechTV and G4 is at once hilarious and sad.

"TechTV was the greatest channel in the history of time"... "G4 fucked up TechTV"... "There is a huge untapped market for tech related programming"... so on and so forth.

C'mon people, use your heads for one second. Everybody seems to be chopping at the head of Comcast (and corporate America) for killing their beloved TechTV. But do you seriously think, for one second, that if TechTV was profitable and delivering strong ratings that they would have cancelled all the shows and changed it so much? The same goes for the original format of G4. NO! They would not have. Yes, Comcast is in it for the money, and if they were really able to make the truckloads of money you people seem to think they could with the original formats you would still see them. Trust me, if videogame or tech shows on G4 pulled in even halfway decent ratings... G4 would be cramming so much videogame and tech programming down your throats you would be choking on it. But you know what?? They don't get those ratings. Because this "great, untapped market" of viewers interested enough in tech and games to watch a lot of programming on them does not exist. G4 knows this. It has taken them 4 years to get it, but they do. Sure, maybe you don't like it, but you know what? G4 does not care. And for that matter, no other channel cares. G4 will always have videogame programming of some sort (even if they do clone Spike, which has game programming) and more likely than not you will watch it. So, quit your fucking whining, and if you don't like the channel, then do something about it - turn it off, find every Nielsen home in the country and make them turn G4 on, create an alternative network, go outside and see what the sun looks like... something. I pray to whatever God you believe in that you have better things to do than lament the loss of TechTV. It is NOT coming back, let it go.
