Sony should stop wasting their time with their "Security Patches". Everytime one comes out, it is hacked.

So would this allow for a Hot Cofee mod/unlocker to run from the gamesave?

Somebody hide this from Thompson!

Sounds almost like a buffer overflow issue, and joystiq wants the commend this exploit as if it really is going to set the homebrew scene off. Surreee I can imagine a ton of would be developers setting up their development environments all complete with LCS just in order to hock their game code into the save game and have it execute for their rendition of pacman, or tetris. I would hardly call this a victory, unless we measure that in the ability to piss sony off, release more security patches and probably pass the savings onto the consumer.

It shouldn't even be a issue in the first place, it's freaking retarted sony blocks unsigned software. They have no fear of anybody eating into their game market because we all know we are going to buy their games because no homebrew team as a PSP development kit and it would take ages for anybody to make a game comparable (IF it's even possible). It's a waste of money and time. GIVE IT UP SONY! THIS IS A NEVER ENDING STRUGGLE THAT SHOULD NOT BE FOUGHT!

#5 The only reason why this is interesting is because you can run the downgrader once they get it in a save game.

Voila, permapatched machine

Sony will never stop fighting the homebrew scene, and the hackers will never stop trying to crack the PSP.

Up until now, the means to load homebrew all involved firmware exploits. Now with game exploits being discovered(and one of the system's biggest games too!), Sony will have their hands full.

The best approach for Sony (in my opinion) would be to release an application like Lua(or their own scripting language) that allows homebrew developers to make games that run in a restricted environment. Then require developers to submit their finished gamecode to Sony for release via a PSP download site. This would all the great homebrew code to be released and keep the homebrew scene legit. Sony could make money on the scripting app from both developers and gamers alike.

wow just think about sony's online plans, which is about equal to nothing really, but think what the psp might do to the ps3... viruses, cracks and hacks right out the gate.

#7, a downgrader from within the gamesave isn't possible. This hack is under usermode & doesn't even touch the flash. It's completely blocked.

The only way of a downgrader would be if somehow there was a way to use the hack externally and do some magic coding. But it's pretty difficult. Fuck downgraders, we gotta move on.

Anyway, Fanjita didn't "discover" this exploit. It was discovered by Edison Carter, the guy responsible for the GTA Cheat Device. Fanjita used his method & the coding of other users to help him create Hello World. Which will eventually lead him to create his Eboot Loader.
