Nerve.com, the super-sexy webmagazine, has begun their 10 day video games issue with Logan Hill's essay Crude Graphics: Leisure Suit Larry taught me everything I never wanted to know about sex. Opening with the oft-lamented videogame press junkets, and continuing with strip clubs, pixelated nipples, and Prince songs, Hill's essay is a well-written trip through the consistenly puerile landscape of sex and videogames.
Though fascinating, the topic of videogames and sex is hardly new — but, sex sells. Nerve's coverage is different because, well, this is what Nerve does: great writing about sex. They have thirteen features lined up, including a rountable with Steven Johnson, all geared towards our two favorite things.
So it's appropriate they began with Hill's essay and the lesson's learned from Leisure Suit Larry, because the history of sex and videogames is not a proud one. Hill writes, "I'm still looking for one that can turn me on."
