Black,
Criterion's
other big franchise-in-the-making, has finally been given a release date. It's currently set to arrive on the PS2
and Xbox on February 28, 2006.
A story summary has actually been given (though we imagine that most prospective players weren't going to get the game
because of it): "Join the world's most brutal and enigmatic strike force. The BLACK tactical squad operates under the
cloak of complete anonymity and deniability to protect the US from threats foreign and domestic…."
Bah… judging by the cover art you see here, the game seems to be centered around the collection of bullets. The title
Gun was already
taken, it seems, and Bullet just doesn't seem to have that same ring.

I can't agree with you more #1. Why should I waste 50 bucks on a game with little replay value i.e. no multiplayer. Additionally, as great as it looks it is still not next gen and so is only rental quality. Why don't developers get this?

Yeah same here why make a FPS with no Multiplayer? It's not fun anymore after you beat the game. The reply value may be only a 2 at best but still, how much fun is it going to be after you have blown up so much stuff and no one wants to come "Check this out!" I remember that on mercenaries: Playground of destruction <(spelling) that it was only cool for so long. Yeah the first 50 times you blow up a building it's really cool but after that it's just the same thing you saw last time. If they had Multiplayer it would have lasted a very long long time.
Now a days you can't make a game and not have Multiplayer, why not have it? It makes the game funner and it keeps the reply value high.

My biggest concern is aiming in Black. How well-implemented is Criterion capable of making us players aim properly with the joypad? Will auto-aiming be an option or not? Otherwise, how would Criterion solve aiming issues with the joypad in Black?
I don't mind the lack of multiplayer, so as long you get tighter aiming controls in any FPS, which I hope to see from a Criterion game. Think Black as Burnout 1 of FPS

I'm totally looking forward to this FPS. Criterion has a great engine going in Black. Looks fantasticly fun.
