The Onion has a satire up skewering the critics of videogame content. It begins, "Electronic entertainment giant Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Grand Theft Auto series creator Rockstar Games, released Stacker Tuesday, a first-person vertical-crate-arranger guaranteed not to influence young people's behavior in any way." The innovative title also "garnered praise from parents' groups who lauded its unstimulating visuals, utter lack of storyline, and non-immersive game play."
The critics aren't the only ones to be mocked, they also direct their barbs at the often pusillanimous publishers, "quoting" a Take-Two marketroid explaining "In today's economic environment, it's foolish not to listen to the people who dislike everything about our products." This is required reading for anyone frustrated with the debate over gaming — which is pretty much everyone.
