There were some words floating around earlier that Microsoft would eventually release yet another version of its new gaming platform. It was said that it could very well have HD DVD technology. But Microsoft has come out and dispelled the idea saying they have no plans on bringing the next-generation DVD drive to the Xbox 360.
However the article is quick to notice that Microsoft just hasn't made a firm decision on the issue, so there is always the open possibility in the future. Seems like it could be their response to Blu-ray if you ask me.
