Our blogging buddies at HD Beat have been busy streaming HD to their Xbox 360. Using a wireless 802.11g network, they have a video showing streaming HD content coming from a Windows Media Center PC to the 360 downstairs. There is a noticable delay while it requests the file, but Kevin says the quality is "phenomenal" with no visible artifacting. Today they take a look at the problems with wireless networking and the 360. In a lengthy post -- complete with charts -- he shows how the 802.11g support the 360 offers just barely cuts it. Using range extenders, strategic router placement, router optimizations, and cats (?!) he has his system humming along. Usually not trusting the throughput of wireless networks myself, I've always strung ugly ethernet throughout the house.
[Thanks, Kevin]
