Jack Thompson's on the warpath, and again he's focusing his rage on the whipping boy of the month, Paul Eibeler, CEO of Take Two Interactive. As claimed by Gameshout, a letter Thompson distributed to various press outlets and members of Congress (which sounds a lot like the one Joystiq covered before) threatened that he and others would "destroy [Take Two], by all legal, proper, and necessary means" if the beleaguered CEO pushed through with the release of Bully, a game that lets you take on the role of a troublesome schoolboy who gets back at other schoolyard bullies and miscreants. As expected, Thompson includes other "murder simulators" like the Grand Theft Auto series and the movie-based game The Warriors in his less-than-endearing plea for Take Two to pull their wares off store shelves. He also notes supposed illicit behavior by the company's legal representatives, Blank Rome, whom he accuses of questionable lobbying practices and price gouging.
I just find this whole situation sort of ironic. Thompson is trying to ban Bully by acting like one himself. And what is this whole "we" deal? Didn't the National Institute on Media and the Family drop him like a crazed hot potato after his campaigns rubbed them the wrong way? What, is his mother helping him out?
