Gears of War footage -- get it while it's hot

Actually it's not "not work-safe" but NSFW. Gonna tell you my opinion about the video in ~30 minutes.

The controls look a little clumsy, but wow! the graphics are really impressive. So much detail and so many effects... Looks great in the 640x480 of the video, I wonder how it looks in HD.

Ok...now this is what Next Gen should look like. I'm extremely impressed and this is just a demo. The game looks like a combination of Aliens and Pitch Black, both of which are Grade-A material in my book. This could be the killer app for 360 if executed properly. I sure would like to play it right now.

I know this is total flamebait, but this video is why I think all the currently released X360 games look like crap.

Let's hope they can do something about the framerate. Sadly, I hear Oblivion is also having framerate issues.

Even though the PS3 is using the same Unreal 3 engine (for UT 2007) at 720p and not 1080p - I'm sure it will still look 1000s of times better somehow. Also, the PS3 will not scratch discs, overheat, and it will even have a micro power supply the size of an iPod Shuffle. I guarantee it! Also, it will be 100% backwards compatible with all games ever made on disc. Also, it will have every other game available through the PS3 arcade. (All downloads will be free and there will be no monthly service charge). And the icing on the cake - all launch titles will be awesome games mzximizing the full potential of the PS3!!!

Wow Bloo, I'm gonna get myself one of them newfangled PS3's. That sounds like utopia.

FYI - nearly all PS3 games are being programed at 720p or 1080i. Only about .00000001% of people have 1080p TV's.

Yeah, and the PS3 will have bad lasers or a bad disc loading mechanism. Oh wait, we can't say that because we don't have the system yet! Pfff, it's Sony. Something will be wrong with theirs, too. ps2settlement.com will eventually be ps3settlement.com

If you actually think the launch titles will "maximize" the PS3's power, you are in for some disappointments. You don't want that anyway because that leaves NO room for improvement, and doesn't drive the industry.

If you want to play even one MMORPG you have to pay more than XBL's $6-7 a month. Free always comes at a price whether you like it or not. *ahem* advertisements!

The PS3 will be a good system, but it's not going to be as amazing as their false hype as already convinced you, fellow gamer. Both the 360 and PS3 are about on par as opposed to the Xbox and PS2.

Why does everyone insist on being so unrealistic? Let's reserve a space now for "PS3 Gripes" and "Revolution Gripes".

Yeah Bloo i'm sure it will look great on the PS3 but i don't want to wait another year for it to come out, or the games. Ill just take the xbox 360.

Let me preface by saying that I am a huge Xbox fan and am anxiously anticipating the arrival of my Xbox 360.

I'm disappointed in what I saw. I don't know, something about the cutscenes in the middle of the battle, and your apparent inability to aim very well (like when the guy is trying to shoot the monster in the window for five minutes) just doesn't do it for me. The graphics look fantastic though.

Hey, maybe this thing will be awesome, but even after watching that vid- which was supposed to blow me away- it still isn't a main reason I'm waiting for a 360 (which are, in no particular order: Oblivion, Ghost Recon 3, Halo 3, XBL Arcade)

Is anyone with me on this?

It looks awesome, but it also looks bit generic in the plot and gameplay department. Looking forward to seeing it, but I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I want to play another game like that. I'm assuming there's probably another online-frag fest Unreal/Halo game mode? I hope there's a co-op online mission mode, I really enjoy those more than the all-out "arena" kill-and-respawn online games.

However, I'm glad to see the console pushing some excellent immersive enviroments like those, it holds promise for what's coming in other games I'm more interested in.

Um, this is tgs footage...So theres the hope that the framerate will get better (he says expect about double). the aming system seems fine to me, i trust the guy who helped create unreal at making a good aiming system. And the suppression fire is freaking awesome. i can't wait. Though seeing this trailer from tgs initially has me second guessing before buying an lcd...I wont be able to see anything in this game with lcd...
