Kyle Orland, editor of Video Game Media Watch (and former
Video Game Ombudsman), has written up a 2-page review of 2005 in the
gaming press, taking up an overview of the year's game-related developments on TV, the web, in magazines, and the
stories as covered by the mainstream media.
It's nice to reminisce about all the target
renders and
surprising
hardware
revelations of the past year, or
to simply put behind us the less savory stories concerning cancelled publications and a certain hack of a
hot-caffeinated game. (Everyone like blogging, though, right? Right??)
Orland's best jab at the specialty media we all know and love, however, may come at the very end, where he posits:
"What's in the future for the magazines, websites and broadcast outlets that cover our favorite hobby? As so many
dismal game previews are fond of putting it, only time will tell…" But that's such a great line! Ahem… gotta love
lookin' forward.
