You’d be right to think that massively multiplayer role-playing games set in space
are in the minority, but EVE Online fills the niche well. A game increasingly centred around its player-base
(all hosted on the same server), and the machinations of ingame corporations, it’s refreshingly different from
the daily grind of other MMOs. The game has just released a huge content expansion, Red Moon Rising,
introducing a whole load of new ships and other enhancements.
If you’re displeased with other interplanetary MMOs at the moment, you could do worse
than check out EVE. There’s a free 14-day trial, which will see you through both Christmas and New
Year’s Eves—how apt. It’s a beginner-friendly MMO, with plenty of tutorial help in-game; the game is
attracting new players all the time, and has a healthy number of active players.
And not a single elf
(dark, light, night, blood or otherwise) in sight.
