Following
disappointing box-office numbers, Ubisoft’s much hyped movie tie-in has seen its price slashed from $49.99 to
$29.99 on the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube platforms. We can only infer that the game has not been selling well either; the
cooperation between lead designer Michel Ancel and
filmmaker Peter Jackson was much celebrated and resulted in a title that was well received by critics. While Kong appeared to be
a sure bet, Ancel must be reliving the sting of Beyond Good and Evil, another well receieved title that failed in the marketplace.
This drop does not apply to the Xbox 360 port, whose price remains at $59.99, and the PC and DS ports which remain $39.99 for both. Then again, you’re not supposed to play the 360 version if you have a standard-def television.
