We know that people can die while playing games online (just as they
can die while showering, running, or sleeping). We also know that addiction is a serious problem when it comes to modern
games. Now Korean "experts" have supposedly pinpointed how gaming itself leads to death.
According to an article in Next-Gen, the primary culprit is the poorly-ventilated, smoky environments in which most Koreans get their game on. That makes some sense. It's hard to go on living when you can't breathe.
But what's up with this wacky quote from a Korean doctor? "In such a physically exhausted condition, exposure to bright colors or stimulating images on the screen is likely to irritate the cerebral cortex and can cause sudden death." Bright colors cause exhausted people to up and die? Better ban cartoons, stat!
The article misses another likely culprit entirely. One of the dudes who died while gaming had just lost his job and had spent 50 hours gaming. Sounds like someone went off the deep and and his ticker couldn't take it. Sounds like a Korean Michael Douglas fell down. Way down.
